A ROMANCE author who penned a chilling book called "How to Murder Your Husband" before killing her own partner has been jailed for life.
Nancy Crampton Brophy, 71, was convicted of fatally shooting her husband of 26 years Daniel Brophy, in Southwest Portland, Oregon, in 2018.
She has now been jailed for life and Judge Christopher Ramras told the court she will not be considered for parole for 25 years, reports KOIN-TV.
Police said Nancy followed her chef husband to work at a culinary school and shot him twice – first in the back, then once in the chest at close range as he was on the floor.
During the sentencing, Daniel's devastated son Nathaniel Stillwater branded Crampton Brophy a "monster".
He said: "I'm ashamed that I have to admit to my children that people like you walk among us undetected.

According to prosectors, the twisted writer was motivated by greed and a $1.4million insurance policy.
But Crampton Brophy attempted to argue in court that she had no reason to kill her husband and that their financial woes had been mostly solved by cashing part of his retirement fund.
The court heard how she owned the same make and model and gun used to kill Daniel – though police never found the weapon.

Nancy was also seen on CCTV driving to and from the culinary venue – which she claimed was a coincidence and that she had instead parked in the area to work on her writing.
Years before her second-degree murder conviction, Nancy wrote the notorious blog post detailing the pros and cons of killing a husband.
She reportedly wrote in the now-deleted post: "As a romantic suspense writer, I spend a lot of time thinking about murder and, consequently, about police procedure.
"After all, if the murder is supposed to set me free, I certainly don’t want to spend any time in jail.
"And let me say clearly for the record, I don’t like jumpsuits and orange isn’t my color."
Nancy reportedly added: “Divorce is expensive, and do you really want to split your possessions?”
The blog post also included possible motives for murder, including financial, “lying, cheating bastard” and abuser.
Nancy also outlined several methods, writing that knives were “personal and close up. Blood everywhere,” and poison, “considered a woman’s weapon” was too easy to trace.

She also explained that guns were “loud, messy, require some skill."
The judge in Nancy's trial, however, ruled the essay could not be admitted as evidence because it was written years before as part of a writing seminar.
