A man from Florida has been found to be in possession of a stash of child pornography which police describe as the "largest they have ever seen".

Johnathan Jhovanni Hernandez, 23, was arrested by officers at his home in Avon Park on December 29. It came following a month-long investigation into Hernandez after cops received a tip-off from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Police raided Hernandez's home and seized 15 electronic devices before he was taken into custody on child porn charges. Hernandez was able to post bail but officers quickly swooped to arrest him again on Tuesday, January 10 after finding enough evidence on just one of the devices to charge him.

Hernandez had initially been arrested for two counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of transmitting child pornograpy, and one count of using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony. Police had received permission to launch an investigation into Hernandez's Discord account, where they found the first images involving child pornography.

Posting on their Facebook page on Wednesday, the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office said: "At that time, we told you the investigation was just getting started and there would likely be more charges. What we should have said was there would likely be A LOT more charges — like more than anyone in our county … ever.”

According to the sheriff's office, Hernandez was charged with an additional 1,182 counts of possession of child pornography as well as four counts of possession of bestiality images.

“There is no telling how many charges he could face if detectives went through all the devices,” police said.

Detectives admitted the stash was the largest collection of child pornography they had come across, while Hernandez is now being held on a $2.4million bond as the investigation continues.
