Bizarre footage of a pig being tied up and driven in 'G-string' style on top of a pick-up truck left drivers in China baffled this month.
The butchered animal was placed on the car roof while its hind legs were supported by a wooden board at the back, secured by a red string that crossed under the pig's thighs.
The pick-up truck driver told Pear , a Chinese video-sharing platform, that the pig was an engagement gift to his future daughter-in-law.
He had tied the body of the animal up as he drove from Fuyang to Shucheng.
He said: "It was on November 14 and we were on the way to the future in-law's house in Shucheng.
"It's for my son's wedding and they asked for a pig as gifts.
"It's slaughtered and cleaned and I planned to put it at the back of the truck but the in-laws wanted us to display it on top of the car so it would look nicer'."
The video has been widely shared on Weibo, China's equivalent to Twitter .
Beijing Police Department have since shared the video and warned the driver he violated the road safety regulations by exceeding the height limit.
A spokesperson said: "The maximum load for any pick-up truck is 1000kg and an goods that fall below the limit can only placed in the back of the truck.
"The height of the goods placed must not exceed 2 metres from the ground."
Web users were amused and suggested if the display was a new way to 'show off the wealth' while others commented that it was an insult to the animal.
