Princess Beatrice is mourning the loss of her dog after it ate a mystery poison – leaving the 30-year-old ‘worried sick’ for her other pets, according to reports.

The shock incident allegedly happened late last year when Norfolk Terrier Orange became distressed during a walk in Windsor Great Park.

Five-year-old Orange was rushed to a vet but they were unable to identify the poison which had caused the pooch to become ill – and it had to be put down last month.

Princess Beatrice and Eugenie are seen with one of their Norfolk Terriers. The family owns four named Jack, Cici, Teddy and Ginger – who are kept at home with their father Prince Andrew

Mystery surrounds the death of Orange (two of Beatrice’s Norfolk Terriers are pictured here) who is said to have died after eating a mystery poison

A friend told The Sun: ‘No one seems to know if the poison was a natural substance like a fungi, or if there is a dog-hating maniac on the loose.’

Now she fears her other dogs Jack, Cici, Teddy and Ginger – who are kept at home with her father Prince Andrew – could be at risk.

The news soured her recent New Year’s celebrations with new flame Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi – who she holidayed with in Kenya.

The friend added: ‘She’s loved up with Edo but couldn’t stop thinking about her dog. It’s very upsetting.’

It was revealed earlier this month that the pair had spent the New Year on Lamu, a tranquil island off Kenya, where Edo’s family own a coastal estate.

Princess Beatrice attended the ninth annual Global Gift Gala in November last year. It was held at The Rosewood Hotel in London

Edo was engaged to Dara for three-and-a-half years, and the couple continued to live together for some weeks after his romance with Beatrice, 30, is thought to have begun.

It was here in 2015 that Edo asked his former fiancee Dara Huang to be his wife and where they planned to marry.

But the relationship crumbled over the past few months – with Beatrice seen flinging her arms around Edo over the New Year.
