University bosses could see pay slashed by Office for Students

UNIVERSITIES could be forced to cut back on fat cat salaries and grade inflation by a new Office for Students.

It will bring an end to vice-chancellors’ highly prized independence amid an outcry over value for money on tuition fees.

The OfS will launch in April and is also expected to tackle issues such as dropout rates, financial stability and support for disadvantaged students.

The Times reported all governing boards will also be told to appoint students.
