Woman in 40s found dead in leafy village as man is arrested for manslaughter

A WOMAN in her 40s has been found dead in a leafy village as a man is arrested for manslaughter.

The death of the victim – named locally as Tara Long – in Great Rissington, Gloucestershire, is "unexplained", police said.

She was found on Sunday after paramedics raced to an address in the Cotswold village at 11.35am.

A man in his 40s arrested over the death has been bailed until December 21.

Devastated pals have paid tribute to Tara on social media.

One tribute on her Faceboook page said: "Rest in peace my beautiful soul sister and birthday twin, we had our ups and downs but the love was always there, the hugs and the laughter."

Another read: "Shine bright darling girl from your wagon in the sky.

"We will miss you so much. Gone far too soon."

Another pal posted: "Taken away from us far too early. Spread yr wings and fly free."

And one friend wrote: "Rest in peace now, Tara Long. A beautiful soul gone too soon."

Tara is listed as a self-employed furniture upholsterer on her Facebook page.

A neighbour told the Wiltshire and Gloucestershire Standard: "People have been putting 'rest in peace' on Facebook.

A beautiful soul gone too soon

"It's sad. I didn't know her that much.

"The police turned up at around 11:30am and haven't left since. There was an ambulance and first response here, then the police started coming.

"It's not really expected around here."

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said a man in his 40s "had been arrested on suspicion of the manslaughter of the woman, also in her 40s"

"He has been bailed while enquiries continue. A post-mortem will take place today.

"The scene of the incident will remain under police guard until at least tomorrow while our investigation continues."

Police urged anyone with information to contact them.
