Laura Hamilton, 38, has been cheering everyone up with her hilarious new podcast Birds With Baggage alongside Drag Queen La Voix, and the pair have since come up with something new they could do to entertain their fans. Their latest move called Off The Trolley, sees the duo set out challenges for each other to do whilst on their weekly shops, but Laura was left red-faced after she had to try and get people to recognise her in the most extravagant way in her local Waitrose.

Oh chorizo, that reminds me of when I’m in Spain filming A Place In The Sun

Getting ready for the big trip outside, the presenter was all geared up with a hat, a mask and some big sunglasses to conceal her identity, but hoped someone would recognise her.

In a video posted to Instagram, she told her followers: “I have got my Off The Trolley challenge today, so I’m going to go and do my weekly shop and complete three challenges that La Voix has set me.

“I’m very much out of my comfort zone here, wish me luck!”

But upon arrival, she was met with an awkward silence as Waitrose shoppers continued to mind their own business and didn’t bat an eye at the blonde bombshell.

“No one’s taking any b****y notice!” she exclaimed to the camera, as she was accompanied by her camera person.

As she made her way around the store, a man knocked something off the shelf and Laura yelled: “Oh, he’s dropped his chipolata!”

The video zoomed on to the next challenge, where Laura had to make it clear who she was to see if anyone would care.

“Oh chorizo,” she said picking up a soup, “that reminds me of when I’m in Spain filming A Place In The Sun.

“That’s where I’m from!”

Again, no one turned around.

“Marmite, you either love it or hate it, a bit like me darling!” she tried again.

And again: “Hi, no photographs please!”

And one more time: “Oh my God, Dancing On Ice. Does anyone remember when I came second on Dancing On Ice 10 years ago?”

But Laura wasn’t having much luck.

When she got to the checkouts, the TV star was at her wits end and worried how the final challenge would make her look.

“I can’t tell her, ‘Do you know who I am?'” she winced, whispering to the cameraman.

But in order to complete the Off Your Trolley trial, she decided to go for it.

“Do you not know who I am?” she quizzed the cashier.

“I would give you an autograph but…”

Suddenly the penny dropped for the checkout worker, who replied: “I love watching you on the program.”

Laura screamed as she was finally recognised and rushed out the store.

“I’m mortified,” she laughed before warning La Voix of what’s to come on her turn.

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays from 3pm on Channel 4.
