A host of celebrities have joined forces to help launch BBC Children in Need’s 2022 fundraising campaign – SPOTacular.

Stars including Dani Dyer and Alex Scott have donned colourful charity T-shirts and posed for a fun new photoshoot as they showed support for the latest charity appeal.

This year’s campaign will raise funds to help tackle the effects the cost of living crisis has on children and young people.


That time of year again! A host of celebrities, including Alex Scoot and Dani Dyer, have joined forces to help launch BBC Children in Need’s 2022 fundraising campaign – SPOTacular

The charity fundraiser see much loved famous faces call on the nation to be SPOTacular and help ensure that every child in the UK has the chance to thrive and be the best they can be. 

Other famous faces joining Alex and Dani in supporting the campaign include Laura Whitmore, Giovanna Fletcher,  Tilly Ramsay, Anita Rani and Jason Manford.

While Ade Adepitan, Nicola Adams, Lewys Ball, Blu Hydrangea, Dr Julie, Lady Leshurr, Louise Pentland, Chris Ramsey and Joe Wicks MBE have also come together to get behind the campaign.

The Great SPOTacular! will kick off with a film voiced by performer Lady Leshurr, which will to shine a spotlight On the issues faced by children and young people amid the current climate and the many ways the UK can become SPOTacular fundraisers to help children when they need it most.

Meanwhile, the charity’s ambassador Joe Wicks will lead two special weekends called Walk with Joe – which encourages people in communities across the UK to head to their local parkrun event and walk the route with family and friends to boost their physical and mental wellbeing.

During the event, the Body Coach will take part in an incredible 30-mile ultra-marathon, starting in Manchester’s MediaCityUK and finishing at the CIN appeal show  – with Joe hoping to complete his marathon in 10 hours.

Challenge: During the event, the Body Coach will take part in an incredible 30-mile ultra-marathon, starting in Manchester’s MediaCityUK and finishing at the CIN appeal show

Along the route, Joe will be joined by celebrity friends and fundraisers, with the marathon – taking place on November 18 – also featuring a number of surprises and challenges. 

Commenting on the campaign, Laura Whitmore remarked: ‘Children, young people and families across the UK are facing a multitude of challenges including, poverty, mental health problems, illness, isolation, loneliness and social injustice. 

‘With your support the British public can donate to help BBC Children in Need fund projects to deliver the right support and guidance for children and young people who need our support, right now.

Activities: Other fundraising activities include getting friends, family or colleagues to test their football skills with a penalty SPOT or go the extra mile with a walk-athon, swim-athon or hula-athon

Merchandise: The SPOTacular campaign also includes a bespoke range of merchandise including official T-shirts designed by author and illustrator of children’s books, Liz Pichon

Campaign: Ade Adepitan will be one of the hosts of this year’s telethon

‘I want the nation to go SPOTacular for BBC Children in Need and give what they can to improve the lives for vulnerable children and young people.’

While Giovanna Fletcher shared: ‘BBC Children in Need is an annual event in my home, my whole family gets baking and fundraising to support children and young people who need it most. 

‘BBC Children in Need really can change young lives by providing vital funds to community projects that support children and young people’s physical and mental wellbeing. I’m delighted to be supporting the 2022 Appeal and I can’t wait to see the nation get Spotacular, raise funds and enjoy a night of amazing TV.’

Earlier this month it was revealed that Alex Scott will be a presenter for this years BBC show, as she returns for her third year. BBC show, as she returns for her third year. 

The former footballer will join comedian Jason Manford, Ade Adepitan, Mel Giedroyc and Chris Ramsey.

In July, it was revealed that last years appeal raised £51million for people facing disadvantage across the UK. 

The charity is currently supporting over 2,300 local charities and projects across the country. 

Children In Need for The Great Spotacular will air Friday 18 November from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
