Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary have been presenting This Morning together since the beginning of this year – but ex-Big Brother star Alison has admitted she hasn't always enjoyed working with her co-host.

The pair took over Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford's Friday morning slot and Alison has revealed what life on set is like for the two of them, admitting that one particular issue has previously caused tension.

Although she calls Dermot her “work husband”, Alison admitted to feeling frustrated by Dermot stealing her lines on the show.

“It’s the little things, nothing major," she said. "For example, he steals my lines and he doesn’t keep up to speed with my life on Instagram even though we host a show together!”

The two of them are up front with each other when friction arises, with Alison telling the Sun: "We are so honest with each other now, we tell each other: ‘Can you not do that again. I don’t like it’."

The star also revealed that while she loves her body, she sometimes feels a little self-conscious on screen with Dermot.

She shared: "I normally love the way I look, but I sit next to Dermot and think: ‘Bloody hell, I’m massive compared to you.’"

Former X Factor host Dermot spoke last month about working with Alison, admitting that they initially didn’t gel on set.

Dermot said: "We never got to pilot, we’d never read a script through, we didn’t even have lunch together.

“We literally met for the first time in 15 years or so and that morning we presented two-and-a-half hours of live television together."

The pair originally met on Big Brother – when Alison was a contestant and Dermot hosted spin-off show Bit On The Side – in 2002.

Dermot added: “The idea that there wouldn’t be a period of getting to know each other is insane.”

He continued: “We both did something that the other didn’t like – nothing major – but after it happened we looked at each other, and I said: ‘You didn’t like it when I did that, did you?’ And she said no, she didn’t.

“And I said: ‘OK, well I didn’t like it when you did that thing.’

“And we both laughed, because now we knew. The most important thing is to find out what annoys the other and make sure you don’t do it again.”
