Molly-Mae Hague and boyfriend Tommy Fury welcomed their first child, a baby girl, last week. 

The Love Island star, 23, took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal their daughter’s name is Bambi, after previously admitting some fans would ‘hate’ it. 

A closer delve into Molly-Mae’s social media shows the star had been dropping hints about what she was going to name her newborn for months – from themed Disney mugs to blankets.

Before she was pregnant, the television personality hinted about the name’s special meaning after pal Maura Higgins gifted her a mug for her 22nd birthday with the baby deer on. 

Molly-Mae showed the mug to her followers on Instagram and wrote: ‘Only real ones know why this is special. Love you @maurahiggins.’ 

The name Bambi is of Italian origin and is thought to derive from the word ‘bambino’, which means ‘child’.

Blanket 

The star shared a glimpse of her baby daughter Bambi’s name on a personalised blanket weeks before the big reveal.

Fans were convinced that she had changed her baby’s name after they had been guessing for weeks, with suggestions including Halo, Nephele and Skye, but it turns out Molly-Mae and Tommy have stuck to the name they had decided on.

But in her most recent YouTube video before giving birth, where she showed her followers what was packed in her hospital bag, Molly-Mae revealed that her father had gifted her a baby blanket with her daughter’s name embroidered on it.

She insisted that she wasn’t going to unwrap the blanket, because she wanted to keep her little one’s name as private as possible and for as long as possible – something which she has continued to do one week on from giving birth. 

Molly-Mae told viewers: ‘I’m packing this blanket that my dad and his wife got us when I had my baby shower. I’m not going to open it up though, because it has been embroidered with her name on it.’

‘Really unusual name’

Molly-Mae said she had her daughter’s name picked out for years – and luckily Tommy liked it. 

In a previous YouTube Q&A she said: ‘It’s not made up, it’s totally not made up, I can’t explain it. It’s just not a name that’s ever been used before. It’s very very different and rare and you’re either going to love it or hate it.

‘I’ve had the name picked out since I was a baby girl myself. It’s always been a dream baby girl name and luckily when I met Tommy and I told him the name I’ve always dreamt of using, he absolutely loved it too.

‘It’s a really really unusual and a different name, I do not know anybody else with the name. I’ve not seen any other girls with the name before, it’s that different.’

On Tuesday, Molly-Mae shared a series of pictures of her week old baby girl when she was just a newborn.

The influencer shared a natural picture of herself wearing grey nightwear as she cuddled her newborn.

She wrote: ‘Just a couple of hours old. My heart just explodes every time I look at her… the love is unbelievable.’

Molly lovingly wrapped her little one in an Aden + Anais swaddle from their Harry Potter collection as she gazed lovingly at her.

Molly-Mae also shared a picture of herself cuddling her boyfriend Tommy Fury the night before they welcomed their first baby.

She penned: ‘The night before life changed forever,’ alongside a cry-face emoji.
