Aussie woman tells friend she's selfish for having four children

Outrage as Aussie woman tells a high school friend she hasn’t seen in 12 years she’s selfish for having four children because it’s ‘unsustainable for the planet’

A glamorous Bachelorette contestant has caused outrage after making a controversial dig about the size of an old school friend’s family.

In a resurfaced Facebook comment, reality star Carissa Croft told her friend, who she hasn’t seen in over a decade, she was selfish for having several children because ‘it’s unsustainable for the planet.’

Carissa, 30, had replied to her pal’s post announcing she was about to have her fourth child by writing, ‘If everyone has 4 kids it’s unsustainable for the planet.’

Putting noses out of joint: A resurfaced Facebook comment from  The Bachelorette’s Carissa Croft (pictured) has revealed the reality TV star once upset a school friend with a controversial dig about the size of her pal’s family

The Queensland psychologist continued, ‘If you want your children to grow up in a happy world where they aren’t starving and dealing with natural disasters it might be… better to have 1-2 then adopt or foster the others… don’t mean any offense by this, but worth researching/considering…’

The mother in question shot back, ‘Hi Carissa, 12 years since we last spoke and not even a hello?’

She continued, ‘I highly doubt that having 4 children will cause the population to starve, nor will I create a natural disaster by reproducing. Hense [Sic] it being called a “natural” disaster.’

‘I’m 10 weeks out from having my 4th baby so your advice is a little late and unnecessary…’

‘I will stick to making babies and you can work on your next piece of unsolicited advice you can give me in another 12 years time,’ she concluded in her clapback.

The posts were unearthed by The Wash, and their Instagram post elicited a number of polarized reactions.

‘That mother’s response,’ wrote one, followed by clapping emojis.

Another countered with, ‘People need to stop having kids. End of.’

However while many agreed with Carissa’s sentiment they thought the reality TV star could have handled her reply better.

‘She’s right but it’s rude AF to say it to a mother who’s about to give birth,’ wrote one.

‘Her point [is] valid but the timing and execution of it was not right,’ added another.

Carissa dramatically left The Bachelorette last Wednesday.

She walked away from star Brooke Blurton after admitting the pressures of reality TV had gotten to her and she ‘can’t fall in love this way’.

The emotional moment got to Brooke, too, who wiped away tears during an emotional confessional.

‘It’s just hard for me,’ admitted Carissa, while holding Brooke’s hand.

Ultimately she walked away from love with the show’s first-ever bisexual and Indigenous star.

Later Carissa admitted she wasn’t forming a strong bond with Brooke.

‘As time went on I was creating really strong relationships within the mansion and I wasn’t managing to develop that strong connection with Brooke,’ she told the Courier Mail.

The moment of high drama comes amid flagging rating for the series, which have become so dire that host Osher Günsberg has recently put out a casting call for a new relationship-based reality series.

The show is an Australian adaption of the U.S. docuseries Couples Therapy, which airs on Showtime and is also screened in Australia on SBS on Demand.

It will be produced by Warner Bros. Australia, who currently produce the Australian Bachelor franchise.

The latest season of The Bachelorette, which is hosted by Osher, is currently tanking in the ratings.

After premiering with the lowest ratings in the franchise’s history, the show slipped even further last Wednesday, reaching just 253,000 metro viewers.

It was the worst rated episode of any instalment in the franchise, which also includes The Bachelor and Bachelor In Paradise.

This season of The Bachelorette has made history for casting Blurton, the show’s first ever indigenous and queer lead.

She also has male and female suitors competing for her affection, which is a world first for The Bachelor franchise.

Perhaps due to her trailblazing casting, Brooke was reportedly paid a whopping $250,000 to front the season.

According to Perth Now, the youth worker is using the pay day to support her family.
