Candace Cameron Bure claims she hasn't eaten fast food in 20 YEARS

‘Somedays I wonder what McDonalds is like’: Candace Cameron Bure claims she hasn’t eaten fast food in 20 YEARS and has NEVER tried Taco Bell (but Christian star still eats Chick-fil-A!)

Candace Cameron Bure has claimed she has never eaten Taco Bell and has abstained from fast food for two decades in a shock Instagram post.

The actress, 47 – who sparked controversy earlier this year for saying the Christian network she is now employed by will be focusing on ‘traditional marriage’ rather than same-sex couples – left fans reeling as she posted on Instagram about wondering what a ‘McDonalds or Burger King’ tasted like.

She wrote:  ‘I haven’t eaten fast food except for In-N-Out in 20 years.

‘Some days I wonder what a burger and fries is like from McDonalds or Burger King or Wendy’s or any of those other places I’ve never eaten at.’

She added: ‘And no, I’ve never had Taco Bell or anything similar. I don’t regret it. You can’t convince me otherwise.’

Controversial fast food chain Chick-fil-A is known for its strong Christian values, closing every Sunday in accordance with founder Truett Cathy’s religious beliefs.

The fast-food eatery has been accused of supporting anti-LGBT causes and in 2019 ended controversial donations to anti-LGBTQ charities and organizations after years of backlash.

Bure prompted a backlash with an interview she did with the Wall Street Journal earlier this year.. She said her new TV network – Great American Family – would not be featuring gay couples in lead roles, unlike the Hallmark Channel, where she previously starred.

She previously announced she would be leaving the Hallmark Channel back in April, two years after the network released its first LGBTQ holiday movie with a gay lead couple.

Candace explained that she wanted ‘tell stories that have more meaning’ now that she is working with the Great American Family network, a cable television network founded in 1995, that was originally a country music channel.

In April last year, Candace revealed she was moving to the network, because it was a better fit to her ‘brand.’

‘I am constantly looking for ways that I can inspire people to live life with purpose. GAC fits my brand perfectly; we share a vision of creating compelling wholesome content for an audience who wants to watch programming for and with the whole family,’ she wrote.

However, the actress was then slammed when she confirmed that she did not expect the network to feature same-sex couples in starring roles. ‘I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core,’ she said.

Last year, Bure revealed that she left the Hallmark Channel party because of the stories it was telling.

‘My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them,’ she explained. ‘I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.’

She later added that she thought ‘Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core.’

Backlash: Bure prompted a backlash with an interview she did with the Wall Street Journal . She said her new TV network – Great American Family – would not be featuring gay couples in lead roles, unlike the Hallmark Channel (pictured) where she previously starred

Great American Family is a cable television network that broadcasts family-oriented programs, much like Hallmark.

Celebrities like JoJo Siwa and Maren Morris were quick to call Bure’s comments homophobic.

One Tree Hill star Hilarie Burton even called Bure a ‘bigot,’ and said ‘I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank,’ in a tweet.

Bure then released another statement to defending herself.

‘All of you who know me, know beyond question that I have great love and affection for all people,’ she told Fox News Digital. ‘It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone.’
