‘Imagine crying that hard… it wasn’t one tear, it was an ocean’: Emotional Chris Eubank breaks down in tears as he describes coping with the tragic death of his son Sebastian
Chris Eubank broke down in tears over the death of his son Sebastian during an emotional moment on the next episode of the new reality show Scared Of The Dark.
Sebastian, the third eldest of Chris’s five children, tragically died from a heart attack caused by an undiagnosed heart condition while swimming just a week short of his 30th birthday in 2021.
During last night’s episode of the Channel 4 programme, comedian Chris McCausland asked Chris, 56, about the loss and whether it had been recent.
The boxer replied: ‘It’s always going to be recent.’
Becoming emotional, he added: ‘He was everything. He was me. Poet, philosopher, lover, protector, a man of love. He was me.

‘Things he did, he was magnificent. My son was, is, an inspiration and will always be an inspiration.’
Speaking to the camera, Chris said: ‘Your son…. they never leave you, ever. They are always with you. Always.
‘My son Sebastian is much more than I could ever explain to you.
‘The tragedy of losing a son who’s 29, imagine crying that hard, and then months later being grateful that you cried that hard for your son. It wasn’t one tear, it was an ocean.’
At the time of Sebastian’s death in 2021, Chris penned a heartfelt tribute on social media, telling his fans: ‘Never did I ever imagine I would write these words or experience the feeling I now have at the loss of my son.
‘My family and I are devastated to hear of the death of Sebastian just days before his 30th birthday.
‘Sebastian grew up in Hove in England, but in the last few years made his life in Dubai where he had a wide circle of friends and was a leader in the adoption of a healthy lifestyle and of alternative therapies.
‘As well as being a personal trainer and boxer, Sebastian was also a deep thinker who liked to challenge accepted wisdom.
‘He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be forever in the thoughts of friends and family.’
Sebastian was also a boxer and lived with his wife Salma Abdelati, 42, and son Raheem, who was born 32 days before his father’s death, in the United Arab Emirates.
Salma said she hoped Raheem, now two, becomes a heart surgeon in memory of his father who went by the name of the Alka Lion and fought in two professional fights, winning both.
Following his son’s death, Chris told Good Morning Britain : ‘I can’t tell you how proud I am of this man. He was my son and I loved him.
‘Every moment we spent together was my favourite but there were so, so many moments I missed when we weren’t together.’

Salma said she wanted her son to become a surgeon, adding: ‘If he picks up athletics as a side gig I wouldn’t mind. For me, he’s got to have a profession that helps people.’
The 42-year-old, who lost her father shortly after her husband, added: ‘Seb was so proud of his dad and felt very close to him. It was a deep and spiritual relationship. I see many similarities between them.’
Salma, who is originally from Sudan but grew up in Britain, said it was comforting to hear boxing legend Chris tells her son, ‘You are amazing’ – and she believed Sebastian, whom she described as ‘pure’, ‘would want me to be happy and move on’.
Chris made an impact during the first episode of Scared Of The Dark last night, in a rant at Paul Gascoigne after the ex footballer told a crude story.
The former England player, 55, had recounted an X-rated tale about ‘relieving’ himself in the toilet after meeting the late Margaret Thatcher at 10 Downing Street in 1990.
And while all the other contestants burst into fits of giggles, an enraged Chris berated Paul before going wild in a confessional.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player had teased a ‘sexy story’ before admitting, ‘I may get myself into trouble here, but when I went to 10 Downing Street, I put my arm around Maggie Thatcher.
‘Oh, God almighty, I felt myself getting hard, and I thought, “Quick, I better just release this”. So I just quickly went to the toilet and just whacked one out.’

‘Horny bit just come on out of us and I wasn’t going to walk with a boner on so I just quickly…’
Visibly unimpressed, Chris responded, ‘It’s so unfortunate that it’s probably true. OK, so let’s lift up the the octave or the class. Let’s lift it up.
‘What you’ve done there, Paul, is that’s your pub talk, man. That’s not for here.’
Realising the room had fallen silent, he added, ‘But then maybe I’m killing the party. Yeah, so do what you want. I’m very tired. I need to sleep.’
Talking to the camera later, Chris said: ‘I don’t know Gazza. And I don’t want to know Gazza. Because that’s drinking. That’s all that muck.
‘He’s brazen. He’ll drink you underneath the table. He is a legend that is not legendary. What’s legendary is Paul. Paul and what he did.
‘He was a superstar in football. I want to know Paul. He’s a beautiful man.’
Scared Of The Dark is being screened over five nights until Thursday at 9pm on Channel 4.
