David Beckham impresses with his Mandarin speaking skills as he shares Happy Lunar New Year message
David Beckham has shared a video speaking Mandarin – China’s official language, to mark the start of Lunar New Year.
The former footballer, 45, posted the video on his Instagram for his 65.3million followers on Friday.
He donned a red jumper to mark the occasion as he shot a goal into the net at the Inter Miami CF stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

In the video, David’s words were translated into English on screen as he said: ‘Happy Lunar New Year, sending my wishes to you.’
It’s called the Lunar New Year because it marks the first new moon of the lunisolar calendars traditional to many east Asian countries.
David was really getting into the spirit and his goal posts has been decorated with messages to celebrate the festivities as he hit his shot.
Footage also showed a collage of videos of the athlete lining up to hit the ball alongside the banners along the goals.

This comes after it is reported David will be stepping behind the camera to produce a new documentary on the legendary feud between Adidas and Puma.
Through his production company Studio 99, he has teamed up with Boat Rocker Studios, Unscripted and its company Matador Content to produce World War Shoe.
According to Deadline, the three-part miniseries will document the decades-long feud between the Dassler brothers Adi and Rudi, who started the rival companies in their small German town.

Adi founded Adidas while Rudi founded Puma, with the brothers feuding for over 40 years and ultimately never reconciling.

The publication reports that the documentary will follow the athletes, legal battles, and ‘secret details’ of the rivalry.
The series will be directed by Philip Boatswain and Lisa Vangellow will serve as a producer.

It comes after David and his wife Victoria, 46, have been reaping the rewards of their empire as a new company filing reveals they paid themselves £14.5million in dividends.
In the year before the coronavirus pandemic hit, it appears the couple enjoyed a bumper 12 months following success in both of their companies.
The couple relaxed the purse strings and took an increase of £3.4million in dividends from David’s company compared to 2018.
David’s global brand management company DBVL is now is fully independent following the buyout of XIX Entertainment’s 33 per cent stake in 2019.
The company, which supports the David Beckham brand, enjoyed a revenue increase of £600,000 to £16.2million for the year thanks to licensing and brand partnerships.
Throughout the year David’s brand launched DB Eyewear and production company Studio 99, as well as the build-up to the launch of Inter Miami CF.
The father-of-four shares Brooklyn, 21, Romeo, 18, Cruz, 15, and Harper, nine, with wife Victoria.
The family jetted to the US by private jet to see in the New Year in Miami with son Brooklyn’s fiancée Nicola Peltz.
