Davina McCall on what boyfriend does for her when on a night out

Davina McCall reveals she makes boyfriend Michael Douglas check in with her on nights out via a video app – but she insists she’s ‘not jealous’

Davina McCall has revealed that she makes her boyfriend Michael Douglas check in with her on nights out via a video app when she’s not there.

Speaking on their podcast, Making the Cut, Davina, 55, revealed hairdresser Michael, 48, will send short video messages to his loved one providing updates on his evening.

While insisting she’s not the ‘jealous’ type, Davina said that having the check-ins from the night out make her feel comfortable.

She explained: ‘When Michael goes out without me, which I get the most FOMO [fear of missing out] from, usually I just invite myself and just come.

‘It’s a simple app where you just record a message and the person can watch it live or whenever they like… to receive a video message is nicer I think than a written message.

‘I’m not a jealous person but it’s nice to be a part of it’: Davina McCall revealed this week the one thing she makes boyfriend Michael Douglas do when he’s on a night out without her

‘And throughout the night I get five ten second messages from you getting more and more drunk and cute sort of checking in and saying, ”hey we’re having a great time, going here, Sam is going to join us,” she said.

‘In the morning, it made me feel included and also I think if left to my own devices, I would imagine you met up with the cast of Moulin Rouge or the box or [went to] a sex club,’ she said with a laugh.

She insisted: ‘I’m not a jealous person and I don’t get funny if you go out, but it is nice to be part of it.’

It comes after Davina confirmed last month that the pair have moved in together, and the couple have already begun making ‘new traditions’.

The Masked Singer judge revealed that her hairdresser beau moved into her home before Christmas, and they watched The King’s Speech together with Davina’s sister Rebecca.

She said on their podcast: ‘I am quite enjoying as a new couple doing new things, because we are newly living together.’

‘It’s quite nice making new traditions because we did that before Christmas, we sat down together and talked about it: ”Ok, blank space, what shall we make tradition from now on?”

The couple then explained how the first of their traditions as a co-habiting pair was watching The King’s Speech together on Christmas Day afternoon.

Updates: Speaking on their podcast, Making the Cut, Davina, 55, revealed hairdresser Michael, 48, checks in with her throughout the night via a video app called Marco Polo

Davina admitted: ‘My granny and my dad were ardent royalists; my sister was an ardent royalist.

What is the Marco Polo app?

Marco Polo is a video chat app which is also known to act as a ‘video walkie-talkie’ as it allows you to send short videos to one another instead of a consistent video call.

You can only send videos through the platform, no photos.

To send the message, you tap ‘Start’, begin talking, and tap ‘Stop’ when done.

If the recipient of the video is there as it is being recorded, they can watch it live.

‘I have to admit, I never really watched the Queen’s Speech but I was really interested to watch the King’s speech this year because it was the first one.

‘I loved it because Rebecca stood up and did a salute because my dad would have done that and I loved her for that. I really liked watching it. Let’s make it a new, living together tradition.’

She went public with her romance with Michael in the summer of 2019.

Davina confirmed the end of her 17-year marriage to Matthew Robertson in November 2017, when she told MailOnline: ‘I am very sad to say that Matthew and I have separated.

‘Our amazing children are our number one priority, above everything else so therefore we ask for as much space and respect from the media as possible while our family goes through this difficult time.’

The former couple, share three children, Holly, 21, Tilly 19, and 16-year-old son Chester.
