‘Grey explosion’: Dawn French, 64, shares striking selfies of her new twisted hairstyle as she waits for her locks to grow out

She ditched her signature raven bob last year.

And Dawn French proudly showed off her new look on Wednesday as she shared striking selfies displaying her hair styled in twists. 

The comedian, 64, oozed confidence as she took to Instagram to showcase her silver locks with a trio of snaps.

Although unclear why, the Vicar Of Dibley star is growing out her hair. 

She captioned the post: ‘Today I am mostly twisting the heck out of this grey explosion while I wait for it to grow. COME ON!!!’ 

Dawn initially showed off her hair transformation back in June last year and has since shared a slew of ‘hair updates’ to social media.

She told her social media followers that she trimmed off more of her locks, with her husband Mark Bignell even comparing her to The Chase star Anne Hegerty.

Sharing a duo of snaps of her new shorter tresses, Dawn penned: ‘Hair update. 3 shades of grey (working up to the 50).

‘I’ve chopped even more off. I’m thinking I’m giving it solid Jamie Lee Curtis. Husband says I’m giving it full Anne Hegerty…. Righto.

Another penned: ‘Looking great Dawn xxx’, and a third gushed: ‘Go for it!! You look amazing. love these glasses too. X.’

With another adding: ‘Love thiiiiis I love that you’re embracing the grey! It looks so chic on you.’

Dawn initially ditched her trademark style in favour of a bold new look to embrace the fact that she’s going grey and shared her hair transformation with her followers. 

In the first picture, Dawn showed off the natural colour transformation. 

Even more dramatically, in the second picture, Dawn lifted up her locks to reveal her brand new undercut – with the silver colouring in line with her approach to embrace going grey.

Captioning her two new photos, Dawn wrote: ‘Going lighter bit by bit to happily welcome the grey… with an undercut surprise..! Hello there woman in her 60s….’

Dawn’s hair transformation comes after she called out a fake diet advert using her images in June and branded it as ‘bo*****s’ in an impassioned tweet.

She took to Twitter to hit back at the sham testimonial which used falsely attributed quotes from her.

The actress shared a screenshot of the fake advert to her Twitter which she captioned with ‘Keto lies…’ and wrote ‘b****x’ over it.

‘Happily welcoming the grey’: Back in June, Dawn revealed she’s ditched her trademark dark bob for lighter locks and a dramatic undercut 

The sham testimonial used two pictures of Dawn, claiming to be before and after, with falsely attributed quotes from her.

It read: ‘All I can say is that it works! I dropped a total of 6.4 stones in the course of five months! Beret the catch, with no exercise!

‘I wanted to see if it would do as they claimed it would if I did no exercise and to my surprise it did – Dawn French, 61.’ 

Now and then: Dawn showed off the colour transformation of her hair after opting for a much lighter brunette shade, a far cry from her trademark dark locks
