Demi Lovato seemingly shaded her ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama in her scathing new breakup song, 29, off her upcoming eighth studio album Holy Fvck album.
The angsty track, widely believed to be about the actor, 42, based off the revealing lyrics, are penned from her perspective at the age he was when they first met when she was still a teenager.
‘Finally 29 / Funny, just like you were you at the time,’ the 29-year-old singer croons. ‘Thought it was a teenage dream / Just a fantasy / But was it yours or was it mine?’

In another verse, the performer, who decided to become completely sober in late 2021, notes that she was ‘too young to drink wine’ when they first started dating.
‘Just five years of bleeders, student and a teacher / Far from innocent / what the f**k’s consent? / Numbers told you not to / but that didn’t stop you,’ the Grammy nominee sang.
Lovato has not explicitly confirmed that the tune is about Valderrama, who she dated from 2010 to 2016.

The singer began dating the actor when she was 18, California’s age of consent, and he was 29.
During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in 2020 after he got engaged to Amanda Pacheco, she stated they are ‘not in each other’s lives’ and ‘haven’t spoken in a long time.’
While speaking out their split, Lovato said: ‘I think I needed that because I needed to learn to be okay on my own. When you get into a relationship with somebody at that young of an age and then you spend six years with somebody, you don’t really get to learn about yourself.’

After her nearly fatal drug overdose in July 2018, a source said told TMZ that Valderrama ‘was a crutch for Demi through her hospitalization and visited her in rehab too.’
In her 2017 documentary, Simply Complicated, the Disney Channel alum recounted meeting the actor at his house in January 2010.
‘[When] I laid eyes on him for the first time, I was in hair and makeup and he came in and sat down and I was like ‘I love this man’ and ‘I have to have him,” she recalled. ‘But I was only 17, so he was like, ‘Get away from me.’

Once she turned 18, the actress said they ‘began dating’ but confessed: ‘I think it was love at first sight, and I don’t really believe in that, but I believe that it happened.’
In early 2021, Valderrama welcomed his first child with his fiancée, while she shared a three-month engagement to soap opera actor Max Ehrich after less than a year of dating.
Following her breakup with Ehrich, Lovato publicly questioned her former partner’s intentions.
