Emily Ratajkowski reveals why she quit acting – after landing roles in major films: ‘I felt like a piece of meat who people were judging’

Emily Ratajkowski has shed light on her decision to walk away from acting after enjoying success in major productions.

Speaking with The Los Angeles Times in a wide-ranging interview, Ratajkowski, 31, described feeling as though she was being treated more as ‘a piece of meat’ rather than an actual artist.

Ultimately, no longer interested in playing by the ‘boys clubs’ rules, she decided to quit the profession.

Emily’s first role in a big film was in the Ben Affleck led drama Gone Girl, a critically acclaimed flick that garnered an Oscar nomination.

After that, Emily and her team sought roles for her that would demonstrate she was a force to be reckoned with, a ‘serious actress with longevity.’

And she did land roles in numerous films, from Amy Schumer’s I Feel Pretty, the Zac Efron led film We Are Your Friends, and a role opposite Marc Maron in the Netflix series Easy.

The last audition she went to was for the 2022 film Triangle Sadness, for a role that ultimately went to Charlbi Dean Kriek.

However, rather than feel like an artist, Emily sensed she was really being treated as an object.

‘I didn’t feel like, “Oh, I’m an artist performing and this is my outlet.” I felt like a piece of meat who people were judging, saying, “Does she have anything else other than her [breasts]?”” she said.

Now no longer wanting to be ‘digestible to powerful men in Hollywood,’ she cleared house in early 2020 and fired her acting agent, commercial rep, and manager.

‘I didn’t trust them,’ she explained. ‘I was like, “I can handle receiving phone calls. I’m gonna make these decisions. None of you have my best interest at heart. And you all hate women.”‘

In her interview, Emily also discussed her romance with Pete Davidson and his appeal to women.

As many have questioned how Kim Kardashian’s ex manages to date all these beautiful women, Emily said even those around her were intrigued.

Emily said: ‘Even my friends were like, “What was that like??” I actually don’t understand it.

‘People are so perplexed by the idea that a man might just be respectful to women and treat them like people and thus be easy to go out on dates with.’

Pete and Emily’s whirlwind romance ended just after Christmas.

‘Their fling has moved into the friends zone [and that’s] fine with both of them,’ a source told Page Six back in December.

The celeb couple were  initially linked in November, following Ratajkowski’s parting with husband Sebastian Bear McClard.

Pete has since moved on to a relationship with Bodies Bodies Bodies co-star Chase Sui Wonders.

Meanwhile Emily has been on a quest for love as she has dated comedian Eric Andre, artist Jack Greer, DJ Orazio Rispo, and most recently was seen making out with Harry Styles in Japan.

Emily did not directly address the rumors centered around her relationship with the 29-year-old ex of Olivia Wilde but did give a general statement to the LA Times after DailyMail.com exclusively published video of their PDA session.

She said: ‘There’s a million insane, inaccurate things about my relationships [that are said.’

Though she had insisted that she is not thinking about men to date, she did admit certain events could unfurl.

Emily said with a laugh: ‘I’m definitely still not thinking about guys. Although, yeah. You know, sometimes things just happen.’
