‘This would be my dream job. I am constantly obsessed with watching action movies and I can see myself being the first female Bond.
‘A plus size girl! An Essex girl! The name is Bond, Gemma Bond. It’s got a lovely ring to it.
‘Now what things would I change if I was a female Bond? Well… I quite like the films so I wouldn’t change much.
‘I wouldn’t put on a fancy accent. I’d talk how I talk, it’d be absolutely fabulous. I’ve got a licence to thrill baby!’

Current 007 Daniel Craig is stepping down from the role, having wrapped filming on No Time To Die, the 25th movie in the franchise, in the autumn of 2019.
It was set for a cinematic release in the spring of 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic has constantly pushed it back.
It is now set for a September 2021 release, pandemic-depending.
Who will fill the role going forward is yet to be known.
Replacement? Could Rege-Jean Page be the next 007?
Spy potential: Idris Elba [L] has been a longtime name attached to the role, as has Night Manager star Tom Hiddleston [R]
The likes of Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, James Norton, Regé-Jean Page, and Richard Madden have been suggested over the last few years, should the role go to a man.
However, many are calling for a woman to take on the part – with the likes of Gillian Anderson and Lashana Lynch cited as possible successors.
Yet long-term franchise boss Barbara Broccoli has always asserted that 007 is a male character and that will never change.
‘He can be of any colour, but he is male,’ she stated in an interview with Vanity Fair in 2020. ‘I believe we should be creating new characters for women – strong female characters. I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that.’
