Gemma Collins has been left shaken after her dad, Alan, was unexpectedly taken to hospital in Romford on Wednesday – sharing the upsetting news with her 2.2m Instagram followers.
The TV personality, who has an incredibly close bond with her parents, detailed the 'very scary time' by sharing a picture of Alan and writing: "A very scary 24 hours, dads in hospital, thank you to everyone at Queens Hospital for being amazing."
It's not the first health scare for the family, as Alan was hospitalised after he and Gemma's mother Joan contracted Covid-19 in late 2020. The ordeal had a huge impact on his health and left him with scarring in his lungs as he suffered from long Covid.
Gemma said at the time: "Things are so difficult. It is relentless at the moment with everything going on. I am finding myself juggling so many plates.
“It’s been a real shock to myself and my family with my dad being in hospital.”
During his battle, Alan fought for his life in hospital but he was later discharged shortly before his daughter Gemma’s 40th birthday.
Former TOWIE star Gemma doesn't just have a personal relationship with her dad but a business one too, after Alan began dealing with her finances in 2020. He took over after her Brentwood, Essex boutique went bust owing £76,000 to creditors including nearly £65,000 to the HMRC.
She previously shared that her dad gave her a monthly allowance of £3,000 in order to get her spending under control – after she spent a whopping £50,000 in two months.
Explaining: "It was £1,000 a day over the cause of two months, but I was going through a bit of a hard time.
"I felt disgusted in myself; I went absolutely crazy in Gucci – shoes, bags, coats – I was staying in the Dorchester more or less every night of the week, £600 a pop, and I was wining and dining in there," she shared.
"I got absolutely massive, I could barely walk – it was kind of like self-destruction in a way, and I'm pleased that my dad took my card off me as I am telling you now I'd have ended up in trouble."
It's been a tough time for Gemma, who sadly lost her beloved family dog last week as she had to be put to sleep, explaining "nothing could save her".
The devastated star posted a photo of their family dog, Lucia, on Instagram and wrote an emotional tribute about how sad she was to have to say goodbye to the pet.
Gemma wrote with the picture: "Beyond heartbroken today our beautiful Lucia sadly had to be put down nothing could save her she was the best dog ever to our family for the last 15 years my dads best friend."
