As an incredibly private mom, we weren’t all that surprised when Mindy Kaling announced on an episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” that she secretly welcomed a baby boy in September 2020.

While we don’t know a whole lot about her family life, “The Office” alum has shared tidbits about raising her kids here and there that have kept our curious minds at bay. Most recently, Kaling appeared on Meghan Markle’s “Archetypes” podcast series, where she opened up about the stress she endured as she entered motherhood as a single woman. “There’s a whole Indian angle on it too, to choose to have your own children by yourself,” she told Markle. “I haven’t been to India since [I was] 14, but you start thinking, like, ‘OK, what do my relatives in India think about this? Is this causing tremendous shame upon our family that I made this decision?'”

She continued: “And I think I can make myself go crazy if I think too much about those things . . . I can’t think about this anymore. I have to just live my life to make myself and the people in my immediate family happy.”
