Indiana Jones filming ‘is in jeopardy once again as up to 50 people are sent home after norovirus outbreak’

  • Filming for the upcoming Indiana Jones movie is in ‘jeopardy’ following an outbreak of norovirus
  • Norovirus is described as a ‘winter vomiting bug’

  • It comes after leading star Harrison Ford, 79, recently returned following surgery on a shoulder injury – which put him out of action for three months

Indiana Jones filming is reportedly in jeopardy once again after an outbreak of norovirus spread across the site.

Up to 50 people had to be sent home from the Pinewood Studios in Iver, Buckinghamshire, following a spread of the winter vomiting bug.

This could prove to be yet another setback, which comes only days since leading star Harrison Ford, 79, returned following surgery on a shoulder injury sustained rehearsing a stunt, which put him out of action for three months.

Oh no: Indiana Jones filming is reportedly in jeopardy once again after an outbreak of norovirus spread across the site (filming taking place in Leaderfoot back in June)

Indiana Jones is not the only movie in peril, as the outbreak has also impacted the filming of the next Ant-Man movie at the Bucks site.

A source implied to The Sun that the likes of Harrison and other big names have not been affected.

‘The crew have been dropping like flies. There’s also a lot off with Covid, so it’s been a double whammy.

Big impact: Indiana Jones is not the only movie in peril, as the outbreak has also impacted the filming of the next Ant-Man movie at the Bucks site

‘Over 50 people have been struck down, but luckily that doesn’t include the big stars,’ the source said.

MailOnline have contacted representatives for Harrison and Lucasfilm Ltd. for comment.

Norovirus outbreaks were reported to be three times higher than usual as top experts warned the bug could make a comeback this summer because of the easing of Covid restrictions.

The health fears on set come after it was revealed last week that Phoebe Waller-Bridge is being tipped to replace veteran actor Harrison as a female version of the fictional professor of archaeology in the adventure movie franchise.

The film industry is awash with rumours that the Fleabag star will take over as the main Indiana adventurer, making her the first female lead since the Disney-made movies began in 1981 with Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

She is to star as Indiana Jones’s sidekick next year in Harrison’s last outing as the gnarled adventurer.

Insiders claim Kathleen Kennedy, the Hollywood producer behind the franchise, is keen to make ‘big, bold’ changes – with few bigger than switching the lead character to a woman.
