But, after taking to Instagram earlier this month to say in a post that he’d have loved a ‘surprise’ visit from his brother Gary, 61, as ‘life is too short’, the former footballer was nowhere to be seen.

The pair have famously had a turbulent relationship, with Wayne previously blaming Gary’s now ex-wife Danielle Bux for their 2009 fall out.

Businessman Wayne shared some sweet throwback snaps earlier this month on social media which showed him and Gary on a previous night out and dressed in smart attire when they were children.

Gary wrote: ‘I don’t think it’s too difficult to work out we’re not as close as we were #lifestooshort #brothers.’

Sharing pictures of himself with Gary earlier this month, Wayne wrote online: ‘If there was one person in the world I would love to surprise me at my 60th birthday party next week @obeachibiza it would be this man.

Speaking on Celebs Go Dating in January Wayne revealed: ‘He’s always been a secret hero of mine really,’ when asked about his older brother.

As he jokingly added: ‘He’s got the intelligence, I got the cheekiness, and obviously the looks.’

Upset: It’s understood that Wayne and Gary were previously at the heart of a family rift following the pundit’s marriage to now ex-wife Danielle Bux in 2009

It’s understood that Wayne and Gary were previously at the heart of a family rift following the pundit’s marriage to now ex-wife Danielle Bux in 2009.

Speaking to The Sun in 2016, Wayne said: ‘In my opinion Danielle cost me my relationship with my brother.

‘Sadly Gary is no longer a part of my life. Within a year we had spent less time talking than we ever had before.’

He continued: ‘It was like an itch I couldn’t scratch and I couldn’t understand why our contact had fizzled out.’

Wayne later added that the final nail in the coffin came when he was banned from bringing his girlfriend of 18-months to the couple’s lavish Italian wedding in 2009.

However, the couple separated in 2016 with reports claiming they had different opinions on starting a family together.

Gary has four sons, George, Harry, Tobias and Angus, with his first wife Michelle Cockayne who he married in 1986.
