Jack White Proposes, Gets Married On-Stage At Detroit Concert

Jack White surprised his fans at a concert at the Masonic Temple in Detroit on Friday, April 8, after he pulled out a ring and proposed to his girlfriend Olivia Jean on stage.

According to ABC television affiliate WXYZ, the proposal took place as White was performing the White Stripes‘ 2001 single “Hotel Yorba.”

During the song, Jean returned to the stage to sing backing vocals.
White cued his band to drop out of the performance and have his assistant start filming the special moment.

“It’s been such a beautiful day, I figure why don’t we do this right now and get married,” White announced.

After getting an approval from Jean, whose band was the opening act at the show, White continued the song’s final verse: “Let’s get married/ In a big cathedral by a priest/ ’cause if I’m the man that you love the most/ You could say ‘I do’ at least.”

The couple were joined by White’s mother, Jean’s father and Third Man Records co-founder Ben Swank, who served as officiant. The couple was then married on stage, with their respective bassists serving as best man and maid of honor.

This is White’s third marriage. The rocker was previously married to White Stripes member Meg White from 1996 to 2000. He was also married to model and singer Karen Elson from 2005 to 2013.
