Tributes may continue to come in for Jamal Edwards, following the music pioneer’s death aged 31, but it’s clear there is no one who was a bigger cheerleader and champion of the entrepreneur than his mother, Brenda Edwards.

As people continue to share their heartbreak and mourn the tragic news, a clip of Loose Women star Brenda losing it over her son’s appearance in a Kurt Geiger campaign has got many feeling emotional.

The British entrepreneur achieved so much in his 31 years, after he founded the online music channel SBTV at the age of 15 and helped to launch the career of huge names such as Ed Sheeran.

Edwards also filmed artists such as Stormzy, Dave, Emeli Sandé, Rita Ora, Krept & Konan and was considered monumental in helping up-and-coming artists in the London music scene.

Having also been made an MBE, and saw his success charted in a Google Chrome advert, he achieved a lot – including being featured in a fashion campaign which really tickled his proud mother.

A video previously shared by Edwards in 2020 is doing the rounds once again today, and shows Brenda waiting for her son to appear in a storefront fashion advert.

Edwards wrote alongside the clip: ‘My mum gave me life & still continues to give me life. No better cheerleader than your mum eh?! Thx.’

And cheer him on she well and truly did, as she was seen tapping on the store’s glass window, unable to keep in her excitement ahead of Edwards’ appearance.

As she became more and more impatient for a glimpse of Edwards, a small crowd had gathered and asked her who she was waiting for.

In the proudest of proud responses, she said: ‘My son!’

Bally Singh re-shared the clip on Monday and wrote alongside it: ‘Ahhh this video just shows just how proud Brenda is of Jamal. So beautiful,’ while Adam Robson added: ‘This has absolutely broken me.’

It follows the shock news of Edwards’ death, which was announced on Sunday evening. Tributes continue to come in, with the likes of Rita Ora, Jessie J, Niall Horan, Idris Elba and Mo Gilligan all paying their respects.

In a statement on Monday morning, Brenda shared her heartbreak and confirmed her son died after a ‘sudden illness’.

She said via a message read on Good Morning Britain: ‘It is with the deepest heartache that I can confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness.

‘Myself, his sister Tanisha and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world.’
