Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet skipped red carpets together for two years

Jason Momoa, 42, and Lisa Bonet, 54, had not been seen on a red carpet together for almost two years… before announcing their marriage is over

Jason Momoa, 42, and Lisa Bonet, 54, released a joint statement on Wednesday announcing their split.

The report of their separation has sent shock waves across their legion of fans.

But there were hints along the way: It has been two years since they were last photographed together at a red carpet event.

Long time coming? Before the news of their split Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet had not attended a red carpet event together in two years; seen in Hollywood in February 2020

The two actors were together for 16 years and married for four, and they share two children – Lola, 14, and Nakoa-Wolf, 13.

Their last high-profile appearance as a couple came in February 2020 when they were seen loved up at the Tom Ford AW20 Show at Milk Studios in Hollywood.

Despite the pause on in-person events due to the coronavirus pandemic, Jason and Lisa had not made a public appearance even when red carpets picked back up.

And there were plenty to choose from – the Game of Thrones actor was accompanied by their kids for the No Time To Die London premiere last September.

The next month he was seen at the Dune premiere, also in London, without a plus-one.

The two entertainers announced they are separating in a joint statement shared via Jason’s Instagram account this week.

It read: ‘We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.

‘And so we share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage.’

The couple explained in their statement that they weren’t announcing their separation ‘because we think it’s newsworthy, but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.’

‘The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become.

The continued: ‘Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life & our Children,’ they concluded. ‘Teaching our Children What’s possible ~ Living the Prayer.

‘May Love Prevail,’ they added, signing off as ‘J & L.’
