Jennie Bond brands EasyJet ‘mean’ as she hits out at the airline for charging hundreds to change a last minute flight

Jennie Bond took to social media on Wednesday to hit out at EasyJet, slamming the airline for being ‘mean’ to her.

The broadcaster, 72, who was formerly a BBC royal correspondent, explained in the post that she was attempting to change a flight last minute while at Edinburgh Aiport this week.

She had taken the trip up North to film in Glasgow for Richard Osman’s House Of Games TV show, and was heading back to her English home turf on Sunday.

But upon arriving to the airport, she realised that there was an earlier flight to Bristol than her planned one – which would save cut three hours off of her journey.

As she asked the airline to alter her plans, Jennie claims that she was informed it would be £156 to do so, a demand which she was not happy to comply with.

Posting to her 10.2K followers, the presenter wrote: ‘@easyjet How mean to charge so much to change a flight. Arrived at Edinburgh after filming Richard Osman’s House of Games to find a flight to Bristol I could make..instead of waiting 3 hours.

‘But you demanded £156 to do so..even though there was space. So here I sit waiting.Why??’

Whilst some fans had sympathy for Jennie’s dilemma, other users were quick to call her out as they noted that this was normal practice. 

One replied: ‘Maybe consider buying a FLEXI fare next time ? It costs more but allows free changes? No airline would allow anyone to get on another service without an extra charge. They are all so so mean , imagine the chaos and all administration involved if anyone showed up anytime to fly.’

Another echoed: ‘What? Very simple, the rest of the public pay and she was trying to use her status for a free change. I agree it’s expensive but it’s a new flight but that’s the cost, she was flying on a very cheap flight and I bet she made plenty of money from her work up there. Get real!!’

Despite her controversial time with flying from Scotland, Jennie appeared to have enjoyed taking in the sights during her trip.

After filming the game show in Glasgow, she managed to fit in a spot of leisure in the country’s capital.

She shared a picture to Instagram from the Royal Yacht Britannia, the former royal yacht of the British monarchy, which sits at Edinburgh’s Ocean Terminal.

While she also joked that it was much easier to answer questions on Richard Osman’s House Of Games whilst watching from home rather than appearing on it.

The show sees a group of four famous faces compete against each other every week to test their knowledge in a series of quick-paced rounds of games. 

Jennie is known for her career as a journalist and royal correspondent, often giving insights into the royal circle by fronting news shows with the recent news.

But she’s also become a household name with a number of lighter TV appearances, including becoming the runner up of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004.
