According to The Sun, he said: ‘I was in the crowd at one of his shows and a lot of people wanted their photo with me and it became very tight. People were jumping around and jumping over to get a photo. I was like, “I am not Ed Sheeran guys. Will you stop?”
‘And he sent out his security guard to make sure to come out and see I was all right. And when I met him he said, “Oh yeah I sent him out. You needed the help”.’
Sam revealed that he has met Ed twice, calling him ‘amazing’ and the ‘most down to earth guy’.
The 24-year-old, who has tattoos of Ed’s albums on his wrists, added: ‘I still get mistaken for him, not as much anymore!’

This isn’t the first time Sam has been mistaken for the Shape Of You hitmaker, and in 2017 Judi revealed a story in which she was out in London’s Convent Garden with her grandson when they were stopped by a passer-by who asked for a photo.
She happily agreed – only to be told that the fan actually wanted a snap of Sam, who he wrongly believed was Ed.
When Ed heard the story through a showbiz agent, he obtained Sam’s mobile number and sent him a text saying: ‘I hear I look a lot like you.’
With Judi declaring in The Lady: ‘I lost my heart to Ed over that.’
Funny: This isn’t the first time Sam, left, has been mistaken for Ed, right, and in 2017 Judi revealed a story in which she was out in London’s Convent Garden with her grandson when they were stopped by a passer-by who asked for a photo of Sam, thinking it was Ed
Meanwhile, the actress previously told how Ed actually approached Sam and asked him to be his stunt double.
The Skyfall actress told The Mirror: ‘He gets mobbed. Now he looks like him even more so’ before explaining the chart-topper invited the family to a show and asked Sam if he’d like to be his double.
However, Sam, who works at a casting agency, turned down the star, with Judi adding: ‘Sammy refuses to do that, he’s very good.’
It comes after Judi joked that her grandson Sam is ‘very strict’ about how she performs in their TikTok videos.

Judi said of Sam’s directions for the videos: ‘Strict! Very strict. I’d say “we’ll do it now” and he’d say “no you can’t do it now you’re not good enough, do it again, do it again!”
‘We were lucky. Finty [her daughter] was not with us but Sammy and I were very lucky to be together. Thank Goodness for the phone and FaceTime.’
Judi, Sam and the Skyfall star’s daughter Finty recently starred alongside each other for an evening of storytelling at the Garrick Theatre, in London, earlier this week.
Judi said of the show: ‘It’s a kind of celebration of the fact that thank goodness at last, the theatres are going to reopen.’
