Kanye West samples Kim Kardashian's SNL monologue during Donda 2 event

Kanye West samples Kim Kardashian’s SNL monologue (where she called him a ‘talented genius’) before taking a swipe at Pete Davidson and bringing Marilyn Manson onto the stage at Donda 2 listening event in Miami – but fails to drop the album

  • Kanye, 44, premiered his latest album, Donda 2, with a listening party at LoanDepot Park stadium in Miami on Tuesday night
  • The rapper sampled a clip of estranged wife Kim, 41, calling him a ‘talented, legit genius’ but conveniently left out the next line in which Kim had joked she was divorcing him ‘because of his personality’
  • During the event, Kanye took a swipe at Kim’s new boyfriend Pete Davidson  as he rapped about putting someone’s ‘security at risk’

Kanye West continued to rock the boat with Kim Kardashian during his star-studded Donda 2 listening event at LoanDepot Park stadium in Miami, Florida on Tuesday night.

The rapper, 44, sampled a line from the 41-year-old reality star’s Saturday Night Live opening monologue ahead of his new track Sci-Fi, before taking a swipe at his estranged wife’s new boyfriend Pete Davidson.

West – who also brought out accused rapist Marilyn Manson to the stage during his performance – was officially premiering his latest album, yet then failed to release the track.

The star had previously vowed to drop the album on Tuesday exclusively on his own device Stem Player which costs $200.

Ahead of his new track Sci-Fi, West included a sample of Kardashian’s SNL speech, in which she said: ‘I married the best rapper of all time. Not only that, he is the richest black man in America. A talented, legit genius who gave me four incredible kids.’

Agenda: Kanye West continued to rock the boat with his estranged wife Kim Kardashian during his star-studded Donda 2 listening event at LoanDepot Park stadium in Miami, Florida on Tuesday night

West conveniently left out the next line in the monologue where Kardashian joked about their divorce and made a dig about his ‘personality.’

‘So, when I divorced him, you have to know it came down to just one thing: his personality.’

She filed for divorce in February 2021 after nearly seven years of marriage. The former couple share four children: North, eight, Saint, six, Chicago, four, and Psalm, two.

Kardashian hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time in October 2021, just eight months after her and West’s public divorce proceedings.

West was in New York City at the time of the episode’s taping, with several reports claiming that he was coaching the SKIMS founder ahead of her hosting debut.

Kardashian famously shared an onscreen kiss with her now-boyfriend Pete Davidson, 28, during an Aladdin-themed sketch.

The following month, the unlikely duo went public with their romance by stepping out in Palm Springs holding hands.

The relationship, which is still going strong, has become a major point of contention between Kardashian and West, with the rapper using social media to rant about and threaten the comedian.

Art imitates life: Some of the songs Kanye performed during Tuesday’s listneing event appeared to reference his ongoing feud with Kardashian and her current boyfriend Davidson

During his Donda 2 listening event on Tuesday, West appeared to take aim at his estranged wife’s boyfriend in multiple songs, including one referencing her fears that Kanye’s behavior was compromising Pete’s safety.

The hitmaker didn’t miss an opportunity to shock viewers by again recruiting shock rocker Marilyn Manson — who has been accused by multiple women of sexual and psychological abuse — as well as Alicia Keys, DaBaby and Migos.

In the song Eazy, which was released last month, West rapped, ‘God saved me from that crash / Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s a**.’

The following song, titled Security, included lines about putting someone’s ‘security at risk.’

It comes after the rapper leaked texts from the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum warning him that he was putting her new boyfriend in danger with his social media outbursts.

The hitmaker didn’t single out his estranged wife or her SNL star boyfriend, but references to family photos made it sound as if he was referring to his own family situation

‘Pop some, I ain’t getting frisked. I put your security at risk. Pop some I ain’t getting frisked. I put your security at risk,’ West rapped over the soundtrack, according to The Sun.

‘Ok we gon’ make this an event? y’all gone need security for this,’ he continued, adding, ‘Security gon’ need security for this.’

He continued: ‘Never take the family picture off the fridge. Never stand between a man and his kids. Y’all ain’t got enough security for this.

Controversial: The hitmaker didn’t miss an opportunity to shock viewers by again recruiting shock rocker Marilyn Manson — who has been accused by multiple women of sexual and psychological abuse — as well as Alicia Keys, DaBaby and Migos

Mocking: One song, apparently titled Security, appeared to reference a text from Kim that Kanye leaked in which she complained that he was putting Pete Davidson’s safety at risk

‘I put your security at risk. I make your security all quit, like ‘we ain’t gettin paid enough for this.’

Last week, West shared screenshots of a text messages sent to him by Kardashian, asking he stop putting her current beau Pete Davidson in danger with his numerous public shots at him over social media.

The Grammy-winning musical artist shared a shot from the 2001 film Baby Boy in which Ving Rhames put Tyrese Gibson in a chokehold, writing, ‘UPON MY WIFE’S REQUEST PLEASE NOBODY DO ANYTHING PHYSICAL TO SKETE IM GOING TO HANDLE THE SITUATION MYSELF.’

He posted a series of screenshot of texts from Kardashian saying he was making things uncomfortable for the SNL star.

In the texts, Kardashian said, West was ‘creating a dangerous and scary environment and someone will hurt Pete and this will be all your fault,’ later saying, ‘There are dangerous people out there and this is scary and it doesn’t have to be.’

Exchange: In the texts, Kardashian said, West was ‘creating a dangerous and scary environment and someone will hurt Pete and this will be all your fault,’ later saying, ‘There are dangerous people out there and this is scary and it doesn’t have to be’

The Can’t Tell Me Nothing rapper replied to his estranged wife via text, ‘I will always do everything to protect you and our family forever. And I listened to you and told everyone to make sure nothing physical happens to Skete.’

In a subsequent post, Kardashian asked the Heartless vocalist why he couldn’t keep any of their conversations private, to which he responded, ‘Cause I got a text from my favorite person in the world.’

The Bound 2 rapper continued to Kardashian, ‘I’m your number one fan … Why wouldn’t I tell everyone!!!!’

Kanye was dressed in head-to-toe black as he rapped outside of a burned out replica of his childhood home that was surrounded by a shallow pond.

He appeared to be wearing piercing light-colored contacts that made his eyes stand out.

He was covered in a bulky black leather jacket while wearing matching pants, though he skipped the striking balaclavas he has favored in recent months and instead revealed his face.

On fire: The performance opened with new song True Love, with the vocals and Kanye’s rapping being broadcast as the house began to burn

Out of harm’s way: The man of the hour initial stood off to the side of the stage area, away from the blaze

As it was a performance of the album — or at least an early version of the album — West didn’t rap live. Instead, he paced around the stage, occasionally dancing to his verses or the chorus

Among the high-profile guest appearances in the first half of the performance was from Migos.

The trio, comprised of Quavo, Offset and Takeoff, surrounded Kanye in the small pond around his house set.

The show: They were featured on the song Kid We Did It, which was shown in an apparent set list that Quavo posted to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday night

Odd company: He was joined on Jail by shock rocker Marilyn Manson and DaBaby, who have both been embroiled in their own controversies, including sexual assault accusations

They were featured on the song Kid We Did It, which was shown in an apparent set list that Quavo posted to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday night.

The trio appeared to be lip syncing along with their verses, though they weren’t amplified.

After the short first half of the concert, which appeared to be devoted to Donda 2, Kanye returned and rapped in person for some previously released songs that had appeared on the original Donda.

He was joined on Jail by shock rocker Marilyn Manson and DaBaby. After wrapping up the performance with Off The Grid, their was a burst of intense fireworks and explosions pointed straight into the sky.

Manson, 52, – real name Brian Warner – has four sexual assault cases against him, including allegations of sexual battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, human trafficking, and unlawful imprisonment.

Shocking: Evan Rachel Wood 9pictured in 2007 with Marilyn Manson) has accused him of raping her on the set of a music video, which he has since denied

The rocker – who is denying all charges – also faces accusations of sexual abuse and domestic violence from over 15 women in total, including actresses Evan Rachel Wood and Esmé Bianco.

On Tuesday Evan further detailed her accusations against Manson in the new trailer for the HBO documentary Phoenix Rising, having first accused him of abuse in February 2021.

‘Numerous women heard my story, and knew exactly who it was,’ said Wood, who would go on to name Manson as her alleged abuser in her original Instagram post.

The documentary also explores Wood’s efforts with The Phoenix Act, which would see the statute of limitations extended in cases in California involving domestic violence.

‘I became an activist, fighting for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault,’ Wood said in the preview. ‘Not only did people hear our stories but they said, “Yeah, we hear you, and something does need to change” … we need to make sure this doesn’t happen to anybody else.’

Wood said that amid her revelations and meeting with other survivors of sexual assault, she came to the conclusion that her words were resonating, at long last.

‘I realized that this is the first time I haven’t been doubted or questioned or shamed, this is the first time that someone was really listening,’ Wood said in the preview. ‘I was like, “What is this feeling?” And it’s this feeling of being believed.’

Exciting: On Tuesday Evan further detailed her accusations against Manson in the new trailer for the HBO documentary Phoenix Rising, having first accused him of abuse in February 2021

Wood was linked with Manson from 2006 until 2011. In the first installment in the documentary, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, she said that the Beautiful People artist had violated her in 2007 during the filming of his music video Heart-Shaped Glasses.

‘It’s nothing like I thought it was going to be,’ Wood said. ‘We’re doing things that were not what was pitched to me … we had discussed a simulated sex scene, but once the cameras were rolling, he started penetrating me for real. I had never agreed to that. I’m a professional actress, I’ve been doing this my whole life; I’ve never been on a set that unprofessional in my life up until this day.’

She added: ‘It was complete chaos. I did not feel safe. No one was looking after me. It was a really traumatizing experience filming the video. I didn’t know how to advocate for myself or know how to say no because I had been conditioned and trained to never talk back, to just soldier through.’

Wood said that in the wake of the video shoot, she had ‘felt disgusting’ and that she had done something shameful, adding, ‘I could tell that the crew was very uncomfortable and nobody knew what to do.’

She added that she ‘was coerced into a commercial sex act under false pretenses’ and ‘essentially raped on-camera,’ noting that she was ‘scared’ to expose Manson’s wrongdoings, and that it had taken her a ‘really long time’ to cease blaming herself for what had happened.

Let there be light: After wrapping up the performance with Off The Grid, their was a burst of intense fireworks and explosions pointed straight into the sky

Manson’s lawyers said earlier this month that Wood’s allegations of raping her in a music video were ‘brazen’ and easily debunked.

‘Of all the false claims that Evan Rachel Wood has made about Brian Warner, her imaginative retelling of the making of the “Heart-Shaped Glasses” music video 15 years ago is the most brazen and easiest to disprove, because there were multiple witnesses,’ said his lawyer, Howard King.

‘Evan was not only fully coherent and engaged during the three-day shoot but also heavily involved in weeks of pre-production planning and days of post-production editing of the final cut.

‘The simulated sex scene took several hours to shoot with multiple takes using different angles and several long breaks in between camera setups. Brian did not have sex with Evan on that set, and she knows that is the truth.’

Meanwhile DaBaby – real name Jonathan Kirk – came under fire for making homophobic statements in relation to HIV/AIDs on stage at Rolling Loud last July.

On hand: Alicia Keys was one of the guest performers at Kanye’s event. Both West and Keys appeared on Fivio Foreign’s recently released single City of Gods, which was performed at the show

Just as he did with his previous listening events for Donda, Kanye is allowing fans at home the chance to livestream the performance.

Viewers can watch the show on the website for the rapper’s Stem Player, a device he’s selling that is supposed to allow users to break down songs into individual snippets and instrumental or vocal parts that can then be remixed.

West has previously eschewed several streaming services with the release of his album The Life Of Pablo, which initially was only available on Tidal and via a downloadable version from his website.

However, he eventually relented, and the album was made available to stream or purchase on most major services.

From afar: Viewers who visited the website were initially shown a swirling circle of colors that pulsate to a heartbeat sound, but viewers could also watch a livestream in IMAX theaters

Pricy: Kanye previously tweeted that his new album Donda 2 would only be available to stream on his Stem Player, which costs about $230 on his website once tax and shipping costs are added in

Change of heart: He previously only released his album The Life Of Pablo on Tidal, but later relented and sold or streamed it on most major platforms

The show was set to begin at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, but as with nearly any performance involving West, the show hadn’t started by then.

Viewers who visited the website were initially shown a swirling circle of colors that pulsate to a heartbeat sound.

Fans looking for a higher-quality version of the performance could view the livestream in IMAX theaters across the country, though it’s unclear how the delay in the show’s start affected those screenings.

The hitmaker previously livestreamed his Free Larry Hoover benefit concert, which saw him ending his feud with his co-headliner Drake, on Amazon Prime.

Making bank: After Kanye announced that the album would only be available on Stem Players, he claimed to have sold more than 6,200 of the musical device, which amounted to more than $1.2 million in sales

Fiery: Previous listening events for West’s last album, titled Donda after his late mother’s first name, featured a replica of the rapper’s childhood home, which was set ablaze during the performance

Back for more? The current set appears to feature another replica of his old home, but this one appeared to be blackened from fire, though it’s unclear if it is the same structure that was previously used

Kanye previously tweeted that his new album Donda 2 would only be available to stream on his Stem Player, which costs about $230 on his website once tax and shipping costs are added in.

The players are supposed to come preloaded with Donda 2, and users will be able to break down the songs into ‘stems.’

After Kanye announced that the album would only be available on Stem Players, he claimed to have sold more than 6,200 of the musical device, which amounted to more than $1.2 million in sales.

Although Kanye explained that he was able to make much more money by keeping sales of his album through his own player, most of his audience may be unwilling to spend more than $200 dollars for a device to legally listen to his album.

Making a buck: As with his previous listening events and Sunday Service performances, Kanye appeared to be selling pricy merchandise to his most loyal fans

Merch table: The show at in Miami featured several charcoal hoodies and shirts, including items from his ongoing collaboration between his Yeezy brand and Gap

The rapper and producer may also relent in the future and make the album more widely available, as he did with The Life Of Palbo.

Earlier on Tuesday, The Daily Beast noted that many of the Monster rapper’s fans were upset after the album failed to drop at midnight, as it was set to be released on Tuesday.

However, he may have always intended to wait to release the album until after the live performance.

Tickets to the in-person listening event were available starting at $85, and the stadium appeared to be packed after doors opened.

Upscale: Last month, the rapper announced a new Gap collaboration incorporating the luxury brand Balenciaga, though it wasn’t clear if any of the Balenciaga-designed items were being sold

In his feelings: Last week, Kanye wrote that it was ‘bittersweet’ to see billboards in Times Square featuring his ex posing in Balenciaga ensembles

Previous listening events for West’s last album, titled Donda after his late mother’s first name, featured a replica of the rapper’s childhood home, which was set ablaze during the performance.

West himself was lit on fire after recreating his wedding to Kim Kardashian.

The current set appears to feature another replica of his old home, but this one appeared to be blackened from fire, though it’s unclear if it is the same structure that was previously set on fire or a newly created building.

As with his previous listening events and Sunday Service performances, Kanye appeared to be selling pricy merchandise to his most loyal fans.

The show at in Miami featured several charcoal hoodies and shirts, including items from his ongoing collaboration between his Yeezy brand and Gap.

Confusing: He added that it was ‘awesome’ and wished for ‘all positive energy,’ but he notably didn’t clarify if his statement was intended as an olive branch to Kim, or if he was wishing the best for the brand

Taking his time: The show was packed hours before it was set to begin at 9 p.m ET/6 p.m. ET, but the show was delayed
