Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s already strained relationship was dealt its final blow after the couple had ‘a big fight in early December,’ according to Us Weekly.
Though things had been tense for some time – with other sources saying the reality star has had celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser on retainer since ‘last summer’ – the 40-year-old beauty guru and her rapper husband’s most recent fight left their marriage beyond repair.
‘Kanye blew up at Kim and she was really upset. Things between them don’t seem to have healed since that,’ the insider explained, which another close source said it was ‘only a matter of time’ until the six-year-long marriage came to an end.
And Kardashian – who was sans wedding ring in a Tuesday mirror selfie – is reportedly ready for things to get ‘ugly’ during the split, with The Sun saying she’s looking for ‘full custody’ of their four children and won’t be ‘back[ing] down’ anytime soon.

‘Neither of them want to seem like the loser in this divorce and they both will fight hard for their kids,’ the insider said of the celebrities, who are parents to daughters North, seven, and Chicago, two, along with sons Saint, five, and Psalm, one.
‘Kim has made it clear she wants full custody so if Kanye tries to fight her on that, the custody battle will be brutal,’ The Sun’s source went on.
Though the A-list power struggle is likely to drag out, sources say that Kardashian is keen on settling their affairs before taking any legal steps.
‘Kim wants the divorce settlement finalized before formally filing,’ an Us Weekly insider said. ‘Settlement talks are ongoing. Kim wants to control the PR campaign of the divorce and she was blindsided by leaks about the divorce reports.’
Though the December fight seemed to be the breaking point for the couple, another Us Weekly insider admitted it was ‘only a matter of time’ until Kim had to separate from the troubled musician/designer.

Still, the decision came with careful consideration according to the source who said Kardashian: ‘didn’t just walk away’ from the relationship.
‘The comments about North and the abortion were the final confirmation,’ they said, referring to revelations about the couple’s first pregnancy made during a rambling speech when West kicked off his ill-fated presidential campaign last July.
During a sprawling Twitter rant short after, the Yeezus rapper – who is Kardashian’s third husband – claimed he had been ‘trying’ to divorce the bombshell/criminal justice advocate for years.
‘She will protect the children first, always,’ the source continued, underscoring reports Kim will be looking for control of the family.
A third insider noted that Kardashian and West have been ‘living separate lives for many months now,’ seeing as the Jesus Is King musician ‘isn’t as focused and doesn’t live in the real world.’
Yet another Us Weekly source supported the sentiment, saying: ‘Kim and Kanye haven’t been on the same page for a while now’ while also noting that friends of the star are ‘surprised’ she waited ‘this long to file for divorce.
While some sources say that the holidays marked the end of Kimye, TMZ insiders claim neither star skimped on gifts for their other half.

But it appears the pair were apart for Christmas, as Kim sources say they have not ‘been together in weeks and didn’t spend the holidays together.’
Kardashian has been in California with the couple’s children while West has been spending most of his time at his $14million Wyoming ranch.
