Kourtney Kardashian event under fire over fake baby shower controversy

Kourtney Kardashian’s Poosh event comes under fire after Malibu mayor says the company claimed Kourtney was throwing a baby shower to get the OK for an ‘influencer party’

Kourtney Kardashian is expected to be one of the items on the agenda when the Malibu City Council meets Monday.

The 44-year-old reality star — who has already decorated her own home in Halloween decorations — is accused of renting another home and lying on city permits about why she needed it, via her event planner.

According to TMZ, mayor Bruce Silverstein accused the event planner of claiming to use the home for a baby shower in order to get a permit, but instead used it as a promotional party for her wellness brand, Poosh.

DailyMail.com has reached out to a representative for Kourtney for comment.

A source tells DailyMail.com that, contrary to the mayor’s statement, the event was never described as a baby shower on the permit request.

The mayor issued a statement entitled: ‘City of Malibu Continues to Place Celebrities and the Uber Wealthy Over Residents: City Staff Sells Out to Kardashian and Grants Emergency Expedited Permit for Large Event in a Vacant Single-Family Home in Private Neighborhood.’

He wrote: ‘As an elected official, however, I am appalled by the situation, and it helps me understand what residents throughout the city are dealing with.’

The mayor said the alleged practice was ‘Not a good look for the city — although it is a great ad to non-residents who want to come here and destroy the residents’ peaceful enjoyment of their homes.’

He then stated he believed the permit had been obtained under false pretenses.

‘I understand that the event has been represented to be a baby shower that is being hosted by the owner of the property.’

Photos from the Poosh Instagram show the theme from the party was ‘Poolside with Poosh.’

The account showed a blueprint of the house and the various activities planned, including a nail salon, massages and a hair salon.

‘Both of those representations are contrary to what the event planner told me — which was that the house is being “rented” for an “influencer event,”’ the mayor wrote.

Brands represented at the party included Kendall Jenner’s 818 Tequila and a Wet Bar.

Valmont Cosmetics, along with more mainstream brands such as Cover Girl and Sally Hansen nail polish also reportedly paid to be part of the festivities.

Another alleged misrepresentation is that the permit claimed reportedly claimed 94 guests would attend the ‘baby shower.’

By contrast, mayor claimed some 600 guests showed up during the course of the event.

However, an event attendee claimed there were no more than 100 people attending the event, which was put on for friends of Poosh.

A video in the company’s Instagram Stories shows someone who looks like Kourtney getting out of a high end rental car, walking into the event and taking viewers on a virtual tour.

No show: Video from Poosh’s Instagram Stories show someone who looked similar to Kourtney going into the party and giving a virtual tour, though they were revealed to be a different person at the end of the video. The mayor claims Kourtney did not attend the party

She had a black bob similar to Kourtney’s current style, though a brief glimpse at the end of the clip as she turned revealed that she was not the KUWTK star, as she didn’t have Kourtney’s baby bump, and her face was partially shown at the end as well.

Silverstein alleges that, despite the misleading video, Kourtney never showed up at the event.

The mayor is asking for an internal investigation into the permit and how it was obtained.

He also wants to know if any city employees were ‘complicit’ in the alleged fraud.
