It’s thought that the necklace was in honour of her late grandmother, who she shared a bond with over their shared passion for horses.

This isn’t the first time Lady Louise has honoured her grandparents with an equine-related piece of jewellery.

At the funeral of her grandfatherPrince Philiplast year, Louise wore a horse riding related brooch as a sweet nod to him.

Louise, whose parents are Prince Edward, 58, and Sophie Wessex, 57, shared a close bond with both of her grandparents growing up.

She and her brother James, 14, lived just 11 miles from Windsor and had the benefit of being born around the time the Queen and Prince Philip scaled back their long-haul travel.

Much like the Queen, Louise has a strong love for horses and was often spotted riding on the Queen's estates.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, previously told theSunday Timesthat the way her grandchildren viewed her was simply as their grandmother.

She said: "I guess not everyone's grandparents live in a castle, but where you are going is not the important part, or who they are.

"When they are with the Queen, she is their grandmother," Sophie shared.

Royal historian Marlene Koenig previously told Express.co.uk: "Look how good the relationship the Queen has with Lady Louise and Viscount Severn. They're very close, and Louise was very close to her grandfather.
