A new bluegrass song “The Great Divide” featuring Luke Combs and Billy Strings was released on Monday, February 1.

The collaboration between Combs and Strings, which comes at the start of Black History Month, addresses tribalism and the cultural rift in the United States.

“We’re all so far, so far apart now / It’s as deep as it is wide / We’re about to fall apart now if we can’t reach the other side / We gotta find a way across the great divide,” the country superstar and rising bluegrass hit-maker sing together during the chorus, accompanied by guitar and traditional bluegrass instrumentation of banjo and mandolin.

“The Great Divide” was co-written by Combs, Strings, and Wyatt Durrette in June.

“It’s not a lead single or a lead-in to that project yet, because that is not done,” Combs said in a press release, referring to a bluegrass album that has been shelved for the time being.
