Maya Jama and Ben Simmons have reportedly split after a year together.

The 27 year old, who recently borrowed Love Island star Indiyah Polack's signature hair look , is said to have called off their engagement last month over their busy work schedules.

While Maya is busy with presenting duties, including heading up Glow Up: Britain's Next Make-Up Star, Ben, 26, spends his time training for and playing big basketball matches as a player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association.

“Maya called it off engagement after things came to head last month," a source told The Sun on Sunday. “She is not going back to New York now. It’s heartbreaking for both of them, especially as they were so committed to each other."

The source went on to claim that the pair both "want to focus on their careers".

“Maya has a bright future ahead of her with job offers coming in all over the world and is feeling positive," they shared, adding: "She has been hitting the gym a lot and spending time with her good friends.”

OK! has approached Maya and Ben's representatives for further comment.

Maya got engaged to Ben over Christmas while she spent time at his £3.7 million mansion in Moorestown, New Jersey.

The couple's engagement was confirmed in January when Maya made an appearance with Ben in Philadelphia rocking her flashy diamond engagement ring, which is valued at an impressive £700,000.

"Ben adores Maya and has fallen head over heels for her," a source told The Sun at the time. "He picked up the ring on Jewellers' Row in the diamond district of Philadelphia the day before he proposed.

"He chose the ring himself and felt he knew exactly what she would want," the source continued. "Maya said yes, and they're both thrilled."

During the Brits in February, which Maya co-hosted with Mo Gilligan, the comedian couldn't resist teasing the star over her recent engagement.

"I can't have you here without talking about that amazing rock on your finger," Mo quipped.

Maya attempted to hide her £700,000 jewel from the cameras, but it was no use.

"Listen, that is the price of a small bedroom studio flat in London," Mo teased, which had his co-host giggling nervously.

"Alright, let's move on," she insisted, still refusing to talk about her engagement directly.

Ben proposed to the TV host after a whirlwind romance that developed in May of last year, which continued growing from strength to strength as Maya travelled to the US frequently to be with her beau.

The athlete previously dated Kendall Jenner in 2019, while Maya was in a long-term relationship with rapper Stormzy for four years.
