Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Have a Dinner Date in the Big Apple

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are making the most of their time in the Big Apple. After attending a Nelson Mandela Day celebration at the United Nations on July 18, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex enjoyed a night out with friends at Locanda Verde in New York City. The couple appeared in good spirits as they were photographed holding hands while leaving the Italian restaurant. Markle wore a black-and-white Gabriela Hearst jumpsuit, while Harry sported a blue shirt, trousers, and sneakers.

The last time Harry and Markle visited New York was in September 2021 for Global Citizen Live. The pair delivered a speech calling for COVID-19 vaccine equity. “We’re battling more than the pandemic alone,” Harry said. “This is a battle of misinformation, bureaucracy, lack of transparency, and lack of access. And above all, this is a human-rights crisis . . . My wife and I believe that where you’re born should not dictate your ability to survive.”

During the Mandela event, Harry took the mic once again to honor the legendary South African leader. “Those of us not fortunate to know Mandela well have come to understand the man through his legacy, the letters he wrote alone in his prison cell, the speeches he delivered to his people and those incredible shirts that he sported,” Harry said, per People. “[Mandela was] still able to see the goodness in humanity, still buoyant with a beautiful spirit that lifted everyone around him. Not because he was blind to the ugliness, the injustices of the world — no. He saw them clearly. He had lived them. But because he knew we could overcome them.”
