Meghan Markle launching podcast discussing female stereotypes and raising Lilibet

Meghan Markle is launching a podcast that will focus on female-specific subjects as well as how she raises her own daughter Lilibet, nine months, and women's labels.

The Duchess of Sussex, 40, gave birth to her first daughter last June, whom she shares with husband Prince Harry, 37, as well as son Archie, two.

It's been nearly two years since the Duke and Duchess first announced they would be collaborating with Spotify for a new slate of podcasts as part of their company Archewell Audio.

Now the audio streaming platform has announced the first official podcast series called Archetypes, which will launch this summer.

Spotify has since revealed listeners can expect Meghan to "investigate the labels that try to hold women back".

The former actress and activist will also hold conversations with different women and experts about how they shape narratives.

In the latest teaser for the new series, Meghan explained what would be included and how she would approach the important topic.

"This is how we talk about women: the words that raise our girls, and how the media reflects women back to us… but where do these stereotypes come from?

"And how do they keep showing up and defining our lives?"

"This is Archetypes – the podcast where we dissect, explore, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back," the Royal continued.

"I'll have conversations with women who know all too well how these typecasts shape our narratives.

"And I'll talk to historians to understand how we even got here in the first place," the Duchess added.

Initially, it was expected that the Duke of Sussex would host all the Spotify projects in tandem with his wife.

But royal expert Christine Ross, who co-hosts Us Weekly's Royally Us, claimed it "makes sense" the project has since moved on to focus on Meghan alone.

"One thing that was interesting about the recent statement is that they've said it's Meghan's podcast," she said. "They didn't mention Prince Harry and I think he was initially involved in the project.

"I do believe it's meant to spotlight strong female voices so it makes sense if Meghan spearheads that project," the commentator added.

The project will be the first since Harry and Meghan signed an £18million deal with Spotify to produce content in 2020, only releasing a holiday special ever since.
