Nadine Coyle has shared a heartfelt tribute to her late Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding after it was announced that she had tragically passed away aged 39 on Sunday 5 September.

The singer, 36, took to Instagram to post a picture of Sarah on the cover of her memoir, Hear Me Out, which was released earlier this year in March and detailed the late star's battle with cancer.

Nadine penned: "I am absolutely devastated!! I can’t think of words that could possibly express how I feel about this girl & what she means to me!!

"I know so many of you will be feeling this way. For now I’m sending so much love to you!!!' followed by a series of heart emojis.

Nadine and Sarah soared to fame together in 2002 in the band, Girls Aloud, along with other members Cheryl, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh.

Sarah's death was announced on her Instagram page by her mum Marie on Sunday 5 September.

Sharing a black-and-white photo of her daughter, she added the caption: "It’s with deep heartbreak that today I’m sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away," she wrote.

Marie continued: "Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day.

"She slipped away peacefully this morning. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year. It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know she was loved.

"I know she won’t want to be remembered for her fight against this terrible disease – she was a bright shining star and I hope that’s how she can be remembered instead. – Marie x”.

Sarah previously revealed that after finding out she had breast cancer in early 2020, she turned to Girls Aloud bandmate Nadine for support to cope with the diagnosis.

The late star made the heartbreaking revelation in her memoir Hear Me Out, she admitted at the time she was a "mess" when she was told the heartbreaking news.

Sarah explained that she spent the evening with pal Nadine after finding out her diagnosis, and the pair cried and drank wine together.

Nadine travelled up to Manchester to see Sarah during a brief break in lockdowns back in December 2020.

Sarah wrote in her book: "Throughout the evening, we all had our moments of hysterical laughter followed by tears.

"At one point, Nadine told me in no uncertain terms how much she cared about me: 'You don't understand, Sarah. I love you!"

The close friends bought a Christmas tree, exchanged gifts and Nadine cooked for the pair.
