Phillip Schofield’s explosive new interview: ‘I have lost everything’

Phillip Schofield has said he has "lost everything" following his affair with a younger male colleague during his time on This Morning.

The 61 year old presenter makes the claims In a new interview with the BBC's Amol Rajam, released at 6am this morning, Friday 2 June, saying that his "career is over".

He shook his head and said "no" when asked if he'd been "flirting" with the young man when he asked to work on This Morning and again when asked if it was "sexual" in the early days.

Phillip went on to say that the man was 20 years old when they began any kind of sexual relationship.

The jaw-dropping new interview follows weeks of intense scrutiny surrounding Phillip, which saw him quit This Morning and admit to having an affair with a much younger male colleague on the show, whilst still being married to his wife, Stephanie Lowe.

Phillip's previous unshakable role as king of daytime TV came to an end on Friday last week as he resigned completely from ITV, and was subsequently dropped by his management of 35 years, YMU, as well as multiple brands that have wiped him from their advertising.

This Morning was dogged by rumours of a "feud" between Philip and his former co-presenter and once-close pal, Holly Willoughby a few weeks ago, and the pair put on a brave face and carried on presenting together, but there were calls for Phillip to quit.

He did so on May 20, as he tellingly said "I understand that ITV have decided the current situation can't go on," whilst saying that he was "stepping down".

His full statement read: "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.

"Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

"So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month."

Since then though, Phillip has stepped away from ITV altogether, and will not be presenting the Soap Awards, after releasing a lengthy statement to MailOnline in which he admitted to having a long-term affair with a male colleague during his time on the show.

He also admitted that he had lied to ITV, his colleagues, management and family, as he issued a grovelling apology for the affair that he called "unwise but not illegal".

In his statement, Phillip said that he met the man in question "when he was a teenager", and wanted help to get onto television.

Phillip then said: "It was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over."

Speaking about his omission of the truth, Phillip said: "I am painfully conscious that I have lied to my employers at ITV, to my colleagues and friends, to my agents, to the media and therefore the public and most importantly of all to my family.

"I am so very, very sorry, as I am for having been unfaithful to my wife."
