He recently returned to Albert Square as beloved Ricky Butcher, 10 years after his exit from EastEnders. 

And Sid Owen carried a tupperware box with mystery contents as he moved house, in Surrey on Monday – which looked like it could be tobacco. 

The soap star, 50, kept things casual for the big day, as he stepped out in black jogging bottoms teamed with a blue zip-up hoodie worn over a plain black tee.

He’s back! Sid’s onscreen character Ricky Butcher recently made his long-awaited return to EastEnders on Thursday, 10 years after saying goodbye to Walford

Sid was spotted moving boxes, a mattress and items of furniture from a large white van into his new home.

The EastEnders actor enjoyed chatting to his neighbour as he moved his belongings in to his new abode.

The house move came days after Ricky Butcher made his long-awaited return to EastEnders, 10 years after saying goodbye to Walford.

The character – played by Sid Owen – has reunited with his mischievous sister Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), and she didn’t look too happy to see him.

Ricky’s return comes amid Janine’s spiraling behaviour in which she’s lying to fiancé Mick about the health of their baby amid jealousy over his closeness with ex-wife Linda (Kellie Bright).

Speaking about his return the actor said: ‘I’m delighted to back at EastEnders. I can’t wait to see what Ricky Butcher has been up to these past few years and how he’s going to react to seeing some familiar faces including old flames. I’m excited to see the drama unfold.’

Back in July 2021, Sid said he was ‘proud to still be alive’ after battling drug addiction and boozing during his EastEnders days. 

In an interview with The Sun, Sid admitted he used to snort cocaine while learning his lines, spending up to £200-per-night. 

Speaking about his cocaine troubles, Sid said: ‘It’s recreational then all of a sudden it’s like, ”Hang on, I’ve got to get through pages of scripts, and then go to work”.

‘You think you can do it and get away with it. I thought I could juggle the two, but I soon realised it was a silly idea…  I’m proud I’m still alive.’

The actor continued that during the 90s he could spend as much as £200 a night on his habit and once drove to the TV studios ‘coked up to his eyeballs.’

He managed to put drugs behind him after a rehab stint and also credited focusing on his fitness as a way to stay healthy.
