‘It was unbearable… I just left the country’: Robbie Williams claims his long-running feud with Liam and Noel Gallagher drove him out of the UK
Robbie Williams has claimed that his long-running feud with Liam and Noel Gallagher left him so distraught that it contributed in his decision to leave the UK.
The singer, 47, and the Oasis stars have been until recently locked in a war of words for over two decades, with the Angels hitmaker even challenging Liam, 48, to boxing match at the Brit Awards in 2000.
Discussing their rivalry, which mainly took place in the 1990s and 2000s, Robbie told how it was ‘unbearable’ and that he remembers ‘every syllable’ of the insults thrown by the rockers.

Speaking to the Talent Takes Practice podcast, Robbie said: ‘My brand of entertainment wasn’t deemed worthy because of how I presented myself.
‘There was a culture of ‘Robbie Williams is not cool’. That was apart from the three million people who bought my albums.
‘Every time I watched TV programmes, there were people being hateful about me. That was just wrong and grotesque. It was unbearable. I just left the country.’
Robbie left the UK for a new life in Los Angeles in 2004.

Talking further on how the rivalry affected him, he continued: ‘Liam said that I should be hung, Noel said I was “the fat dancer from Take That”.
‘I remember every single syllable of every single thing they’ve ever said about me.’
Despite Liam having made peace with him last year, it appeared that Robbie still holds some bitter feelings towards his brother Noel, 53.
‘I could talk for two hours about why Noel’s s***’, he said.
He concluded: ‘Isn’t it interesting what a few words can do to your whole life? I’m not healed.’

Robbie then famously fell out with the brothers, after Noel described him as ‘that fat dancer from Take That.’
In May last year, Liam offered an olive branch to Robbie after the Take That star revealed his father Pete Conway had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

Liam tweeted: ‘Oi Robbie balboa it’s LG I hear you got shit going down in your fam I’m sorry to hear that love n light going out to your family stay cool and in tune LG’.
Robbie was delighted to receive the message from Liam and admitted it ‘means a lot’ to him. He replied: ‘Brother.that means a lot to me ..Carry on being celestial .the world needs you .Your fan rob [heart emoji] (sic)’
Despite their war of words over the years, Robbie recently hailed Liam ‘iconic’ and ‘the voice of a generation’, prompting a fan in a separate exchange to ask the ‘For What It’s Worth’ singer if his fight with his rival was off.
Using the rhyming slang for fight – Barry White – Liam replied: ‘There was never gonna be a Barry peace n love (sic)’

Earlier that month, Robbie again challenged Liam to a fight in order to raise money for the NHS. He said: ‘I still want to fight. There’s a lot of things I want to experience. I saw KSI and Logan Paul fight and just thought, ‘That looks amazing.’
‘I don’t dislike anybody enough to train for those 10 weeks and give it my all apart from Liam. The offer still stands, I’m available, let’s do it for the NHS.’
In October 2019, the father-of-four – who first laid down the gauntlet to Liam at the 2000 BRIT Awards with a £100,000 bet on the table – suggested the pair go head to head in a ‘professional’ boxing match.
He later retracted his statements the following month when his wife Ayda Field called the idea ’embarrassing’.
