“Seeking Sister Wife” has raised eyebrows ever since it debuted on TLC in 2018. The reality show, which is similar to the network’s other polygamist hit “Sister Wives,” tells the story of three families experiencing life in polygamous relationships as they go through the ups and downs of inviting another wife into their relationship.
One of those families is Ashley Snowden and Dimitri Snowden, with the former being the one who suggested opening up their marriage to at least one other woman. In a 2019 interview with Fox News, Ashley explained that she found polygamist relationships to be a “beautiful representation of family” after she studied anthropology. “I never experienced that in my 33 years on the planet. So the fact that women get to work together and raise a family together and just built this nation up and we have a supportive husband at the head of that always seemed to beautiful to me,” she said.
On the show, the two welcomed Vanessa Cobbs into their relationship, though Vanessa confirmed that she was leaving the Snowden family in an April 2019 Instagram post that has since been deleted (via Distractify). In Season 3, Ashley and Dimitri started a relationship with a new sister wife, Christeline Petersen, who traveled from South Africa to the U.S. to be with Dimitri (per The U.S. Sun).
However, per People, Christeline came forward with some serious allegations against Ashley and Dimitri. Read on for the disturbing details.
Ashley Snowden and Dimitri Snowden were accused of domestic abuse
In April 2021, it was revealed that Christeline Petersen accused Dimitri Snowden — who she described as her husband in legal documents — of domestic abuse. People and TMZ reported that Christeline filed a restraining order in March 2021 against both Dimitiri and Ashley Snowden and alleged that she was abused on more than one occasion.
Christeline was granted a temporary restraining order against Dimitri but has not been granted the same for Ashley because the court needed “more information on their relationship (per People). Another hearing has been scheduled.
Christeline accused Dimitri of physically hurting and “yelling” at her and claimed that she was left with bruises, scratches, and redness following one alleged incident. Christeline also claimed that Ashley got physical with her and, on one occasion, allegedly tried to stop her from leaving their home. “My children are scared of her due to her yelling at them and the violence in the home between her and my husband and me and her,” Christeline said in court documents (per TMZ).
TLC has not yet publicly spoken out regarding the allegations surrounding the “Seeking Sister Wife” stars, nor have Ashley and Dimitri.
