In an interview on Apple TV+’s ‘Dear…’, the ‘Only Murders in the Building’ actress also admits that she ‘lied’ when she said body-shaming comments did not affect her.
AceShowbiz –Selena Gomez has not snubbed her former BFF Francia Raisa out of her life despite feud rumors. In an interview on Apple TV+’s new docuseries “Dear…“, the singer/actress has praised the 34-year-old actress for selflessly donating her kidney back in 2017 amid the former Disney darling’s battle with lupus.
“My best friend. Her name is Francia. She said ‘No I am absolutely getting tested,’ ” the Rare Beauty founder recalled the time after she found out she needed a transplant. “Within three days, she went to [get tested], and she was a match. And it was one of those moments where I felt watched over. I know I was so so so lucky.”
“I will never, ever, ever be more in debt to a person than Francia,” she continued. “The idea of someone not even second-guessing to be a donor was unbelievably overwhelming.”
Speculation about Selena and Raisa’s fallout arose after the former called Taylor Swift her “only friend in the industry.” When speaking to Rolling Stone magazine last year, she said, “I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities.” She added, “My only friend in the industry really is Taylor, so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong.”
“I felt the presence of everyone around me living full lives,” the former girlfriend of Justin Bieber added. “I had this position, and I was really happy, but… was I? Do these materialistic things make me happy? [I realized] I just didn’t like who I was, because I didn’t know who I was.”
Noticing this, Francia responded to an article about it by writing, “Interesting.” Eagle-eyed fans also noticed that the former “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” star unfollowed Selena on Instagram following the “Wolves” singer’s comment.
Selena later responded to Francia’s reactions to her comment. “Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know,” she simply commented on a TikTok video of someone explaining the drama.
Elsewhere on the docuseries, Selena got candid about the impact of body-shaming comments about her. She admitted that she “lied” when she said the negative comments didn’t affect her.
“I lied. I would go online and I would post a picture and I would say, ‘It doesn’t matter. I’m not accepting what you’re saying,’ ” she confessed. While she would act strong, she revealed she would be “crying” her “eyes out because no one deserves to hear those things.”
“I was posting these things saying it doesn’t bother me because I didn’t want it to bother other people who are experiencing the same thing,” the 30-year-old star explained. “Getting shamed for what they look like, who they are, who they love, I just think it’s so unfair.”
“I don’t think that anybody deserves less than,” she added. She thinks that people online “couldn’t wait” to find a reason to bring her down, despite her chronic disease’s painful side effects. “I was being shamed for gaining weight because of my lupus,” she stated.
