Strictly's Nina Wadia slams Craig Revel Horwood's 'harsh' scoring

‘Give everyone a chance!’ Strictly’s Nina Wadia claims Craig Revel Horwood’s ‘harsh’ scoring of her is the reason she was booted off dance show first

Nina Wadia has claimed that Craig Revel Horwood’s harsh scoring of her Tango in week two of Strictly Come Dancing is the reason she was given the boot first.

Speaking to The Sun, the EastEnders actress, 52, hit back at the show by criticising its scoring methods and was left confused at the fact that Judi Love could score a seven when Craig called her dance a ‘technical disaster’ – while she was scored a three.

She said: ‘If you have a competition, have a level playing field. Give everybody a chance, or if not that, then at least mark accordingly.

Hitting back: Nina Wadia has claimed that Craig Revel Horwood’s harsh scoring of her Tango in week two of Strictly Come Dancing is the reason she was given the boot first

‘You can’t give someone like me a three when I’ve tried so hard and tried something so technically difficult, then at the same time give someone else who’s had a bit of a mistake a seven just because they looked good doing it.

‘I don’t understand the marking system at all. I don’t think the marking system makes any sense. I thought, “OK, this is only week two, you know, you make a little mistake, you’re only human”‘

MailOnline has contacted a Strictly representative for further comment.

Nina was shocked at how the judges marked the dances, and she felt that she hadn’t even got used to the glittery world of Strictly before being axed from the show.

Hypocritical: Speaking to The Sun, Nina hit back at the show by criticising their scoring method and was left confused at the fact that Judi Love could score a seven when Craig called her dance a ‘technical disaster’ but she was scored a three

In week one she was given the Samba, a notoriously difficult dance which left her joking that the producers wanted her to leave the competition.

The dance she did in week one was scored 24 – which is respectable and left her and dance partner Neil Jones in the middle of the leader board.

She spoke on an Instagram live with Amy Day and Benjy Potter about this incident and said: ‘When we were told that our first dance was the samba I turned to Neil and I said, “Do they not want me in this competition? Why have they given me the hardest dance to do first?”

Annoyed: She said: ‘If you have a competition, have a level playing field. Give everybody a chance, or if not that, then at least mark accordingly

‘And he said, “Well, let’s prove them wrong and just bring it”. So we did, and now I love the samba.’

But in week two, after she danced the Tango, she was only scored 18 points, with Craig giving them only three points.

Craig dished his criticism to Nina on the show and said: ‘The footwork was extremely ropey. I don’t think this was your dance, my love.’

Nina thought his scoring was a bit harsh just because she made a mistake, but tried to hold out hope for the public vote.

Her dance was then bottom of the leader board along with Katie McGlynn and Gorka Marquez – who they faced in the dance-off.

Nina was further confused when Craig opted to keep Katie and Gorka in the competition despite saying all the steps were right when she had the chance to do it again.

Anton Du Beke was the only judge to keep Nina and Neil in the competition, so they were ultimately given the boot.
