Collin Morikawa is on top of the world right now. The professional golfer is the reigning PGA champion. After his big win in 2020, the Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis asked him about the effect his girlfriend, Katherine Zhu, who played golf for Pepperdine, had on him. Morikawa said, in part, I am very lucky to have her. Kat has been by my side through it all. She would hate me if I didn’t say this, but I didn’t start winning in college until she showed up in my life, so thanks, Kat,” (via Golf Digest).
Morikawa and Zhu have been dating for four years, per YourTango. They met in college through golf despite not attending the same university. In 2020, in celebration of their third anniversary, Morikawa posted an adorable tribute to Zhu on Instagram and captioned it, “So in love with you, you’re my everything. Happy 3 years babe.” For their anniversary in 2021, he posted a shot of Zhu in front of a plate of food on Instagram and captioned it, “4 years with my foodie lover, so lucky to explore the world with you.”

Katherine Zhu is also a golfer
Katherine Zhu was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Her father, Mike Chu, was a professional tennis player. Zhu played tennis and golf growing up and excelled at both, per Golf Monthly. She decided to focus on golf and attended Zhuji Hailiang Private High School in China. When it came time to choose a college, she decided on Pepperdine in Malibu, California.
Zhu played on the Pepperdine Women’s Golf Team for all four years of college, per her Pepperdine bio. She was a first-team All-WCC selection and made the WCC All-Academic first team. Academically, she majored in International Management.
Zhu is a dog lover and also fosters them. She admitted in an Instagram post that she finds it “incredibly hard” when she has to give the dogs to their forever homes. She wrote, “We decided to foster dogs simply because we LOVE dogs … but for me at least if I could give them a little love and help out the shelters/rescues as much as I could during these difficult times it was very much worth it,” Zhu said in the August 2020 Instagram post. “… They have made me so happy the past few months. I don’t know what I would have done without them. Honestly, I am so so grateful and thankful for being able to foster these cuties. They will always be my forever best friends.
And finally, her favorite golfer might surprise you. It’s not Morikawa, it’s Tiger Woods, per Golf Monthly.
