‘I will never forget her’: Mick Jagger leads star-studded tributes to Tina Turner after her death at 83 — as he praises ‘enormously talented’ singer

News of Tina Turner’s death on Wednesday led to an outpouring of grief and tributes from her adoring fans and grieving friends.

The legendary hitmaker died earlier in the day at her home in Switzerland, her publicist revealed, though a cause of death was not initially revealed.

On social media, The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, who had collaborated on stage with Turner multiple times, shared photos of himself duetting with her while paying tribute to his ‘wonderful friend.’

‘I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner. She was truly and enormously talented performer and singer,’ he gushed. ‘She was inspiring, warm, funny and generous. She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her.’

He included a photo of the two singing his Jacksons collaboration State Of Shock and the classic Rolling Stones tune It’s Only Rock ‘N Roll (But I Like It) in Philadelphia at a 1985 Live Aid performance.

The Three Degrees singer Sheila Ferguson joined the chorus of stars and fans paying tribute to the What’s Love Got To Do With It singer.

‘My darling friend @tinaturner has died. OMG, I’m beside myself,’ Ferguson wrote while sharing a photo of Turner rocking out on stage in a blue tasseled dress. 

‘The times we shared over decades, her impact on the music industry, love of family&friends, insatiable humour, love of life. Damn, I miss you already. That’s all I can say now.’

Fellow singer Ciara wrote that the groundbreaking superstar had been an inspiration to her.

‘Heaven has gained an angel. Rest in paradise Tina Turner. Thank you for the inspiration you gave us all,’ she wrote lovingly.

Mia Farrow shared two black-and-white photos of Tina, one calming image in which the singer closed her eyes, along with an older photo in which her piercing gaze looked directly into the camera. 

‘The magnificent Tina Turner has left us,’ she wrote, adding a broken heart emoji. 

Star Trek icon George Takei shared an eloquent tribute to the superstar performer on his Twitter account while referencing some of her most famous songs.

‘A true legend has passed,’ he wrote. ‘She was our River Deep and our Mountain High, the Private Dancer in our hearts. She showed us that love really does have everything to do with it, and that we really did need another hero. And she was it. Rest now, Proud Mary. Raise your voice high in the heavens.’ 

And Just Like That… star Sarah Jessica Parker included a photo of Turner grinning ecstatically on stage.

‘Simply the best. RIP Ms. Turner. I loved and love you. Thank you,’ she wrote, before wishing her ‘Godspeed.’
