A MUM has told how other parents banned their kids from play dates with her children because of how she looks.
Model Alt Jodie, 27, dotes on her daughter, six, and three-year-old son who has severe autism and requires round the clock care.
But the single mum admits her unique fashion sense has led to people staring on the playground and even judging her little ones.
Jodie, who lives in Peebles in the Scottish Borders, says: “Living in Peebles, it’s not as forward thinking as other places perhaps so it can be really controversial.
“Even when it’s my kids wanting to go on play dates and sleepovers.
“One of my best friends is a devoted Christian who I started talking to on purpose.
“I was like, I’m not weird. I just wear my weird on the outside, not the inside.
"It still happens sometimes, they look at me like I’ve stolen my kids.

“I stand by myself in the playground. There’s a big group of mums who stand in a big circle talking to each other about gin and prosecco so I don’t fit in with the middle class mum section.”
Jodie is a successful alternative model and often poses for unusual photoshoots which can see her dressed as vampires, mermaids, pirates and vikings.
But the former pole dancer, who is instantly recognisable thanks to her tattoos, piercings and red dreadlocks, refuses to allow people to bring her down.
Whenever anyone stares, she smiles at them rather than snapping back.
Jodie explains: “I dress like a big freak. I think it’s absolutely amazing. I wear platform boots,
“I’m well known for it. I wear them every day. They’re eight inches off the floor and I have over 30 pairs.
My dad had an affair with my ex-boyfriend’s mum… now we’re step-siblings & they even suggested we carried on dating
“I don’t look like what people think a mum should look like. I’m not conservative at all.
“I’ve had people accuse me of being a weed smoker because I have dreadlocks in my hair.
“They think you’re some sort of dodgy rogue because you look weird. But why does fashion sense and hair define who you are as a person?
“People stare at me all the time so I’m used to it. All the little girls are like 'this is cool' and the parents says it’s not.
“I’m a proper friendly and happy hippy, I’m lovely to everybody, I don’t have a grumpy goth face of any kind, I’m joyful to everyone.
“And I am a responsible parent even though people think I don’t look like one.”
Jodie adds: “It teaches people you don’t have to be ashamed of who you are as a person based on what you look like.
“The people that are worth getting to know don’t judge people based on their image.
"So if someone is going to judge someone at face value, it’s not a good lesson to teach a child and not someone I want to surround myself with.”
