Once Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton divorced in 2015, fans wondered if she would ever find love again.
But after dating for only three months, Lambert gave a new meaning to “whirlwind romance” when she married New York City police officer Brendan McLaughlin on January 26, 2019, according to Us Weekly. Lambert shared the news on February 16, 2019 with her Instagram followers, including photos from their wedding and writing, “In honor of Valentine’s day I wanted to share some news. I met the love of my life. And we got hitched! My heart is full. Thank you Brendan Mcloughlin for loving me for … Me.”
She discussed how quickly they tied the knot in an interview with Chicago’s 99.FM radio station and said, per Us Weekly, “They’re not going to let me have eight months off ever again because I get married and do weird s**t.” McLoughlin took a leave of absence from the NYPD that July presumably to spend more time with his wife.
But how did Lambert and McLoughlin’s relationship begin — and what is it like now? Keep reading for more details.
Inside Miranda Lambert and Brendan McLoughlin's meet-cute
Per Radar Online, Miranda Lambert and Brendan McLoughlin met in November 2018 when she performed on “Good Morning America.” The police officer was reportedly working nearby, and it’s clear sparks flew from the start. Just days after meeting, McLoughlin welcomed a child from a previous relationship, per Us Weekly.
After tying the knot a few months later, the couple made their red carpet debut at the ACMs in April 2019 and continued to put their love on display in New York that summer.
As time went on, Lambert and McLoughlin’s love for each other only grew. In February 2020, he officially retired from the NYPD and became his wife’s security guard, per Fox News. So sweet!
In October 2020, McLoughlin appeared in Lambert’s “Settling Down” music video. Having her husband in the video was a no-brainer, as she told fans in a live Q&A video on YouTube: “I think we understand why we had him in my video … because he’s really pretty and I needed a video babe.”
Lambert celebrated their two-year wedding anniversary on Instagram in January, writing, “2 years hitched!” They also attended the Grammys together in March, where he walked her to the stage when she took home Best Country Album for “Wildcard.” On May 27, they celebrated the opening of her Nashville Tex-Mex restaurant Casa Rosa where they sang a duet of “Summer Nights” from “Grease.”
It’s clear these two know how to keep the love alive!
