Chart-topping sensation Adele has revealed she was in a secret relationship before meeting her current partner Rich Paul.

The Easy On Me singer who released her highly anticipated album 30 on November, 19, recently confessed that she walked away from an undisclosed relationship a year after she split from her ex-husband Simon Konecki.

Adele, 33, went on to say that she "associated" her lover with the breakdown of her marriage.

Speaking to publication The Face, she explained: "It wasn’t right, leaving a marriage and then dating a year after. Even if you feel ready, it’s a gaping, open wound whether you leave or you’re left.

"I was unable to pretend that I wasn’t in my own storm… I couldn’t give myself properly. I couldn’t be consistent, and neither could he."

The singer went on to say that she associated her ex-partner with the breakdown of her marriage, so therefore he became a part of the "storm".

She added: "And I was just, you know, really honest with him about it, thank God. Otherwise, I could’ve found myself in a situation being in a relationship I didn’t want to be in after coming out of one."

The chart-topping sensation is now happily dating sports agent Rich, 39, who she met through mutual friends at a birthday party.

In previous interviews, the singer has expressed how happy she is with Rich and admitted that it's the first time she's "loved myself and been open to loving and being loved by someone else".

The news of the singer's latest telling interview comes after she revealed that her new album would include heartbreaking voice notes exchanged with her son Angelo aged 9 and details of her separation.

In her single titled My Little Love, Adele inserted audio recordings from conversations that she had with her little one where he can be heard comforting her and trying to stop her crying amid her 2019 divorce.

The Rolling In The Deep singer, with who she shares her son Angelo with ex-husband Simon, sings: "I’m so sorry if what I’ve done makes you feel sad."

Later on in the song, Adele can be heard saying to her son "Tell me you love me", to which Angelo sweetly replies, "I love you, one million percent. I feel like you like me too."

Adele then said: "You know Mummy doesn’t like anyone else like I like you, right? Mummy’s been having a lot of big feelings lately, I’m confused and I don’t know what I’m doing."

"I love your dad because he gave you to me… I’ve had a bad day, I’m very anxious…"

She added: "I feel very paranoid, stressed, and I’m hungover which never helps. I feel like today is the first day since I left him that I actually feel lonely — and I never do.
