A Place in the Sun presenter Laura Hamilton confirmed the sad news that she and her husband Alex Goward have separated after 13 years together and 10 years married.
Laura, 41, wrote on Instagram: "This isn’t something I ever thought I’d be saying but, after 13 years of being together Alex and I have separated.
"Our children are and always will be our number one priority and we would respect privacy for our family at this time. Laura."
She also included a picture of a quote from Dr Seuss, which read: "Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened."
Laura is used to travelling on regular work trips to present the Channel 4 holiday home programme, but had been ground due to the Covid pandemic.
According to The Sun on Sunday, her relationship with husband Alex, who she shares two children with, grew strained as they spent more time together at home.
A source said: "She really wanted to make the marriage work for the sake of the family. She threw her all into saving the relationship, but in lockdown they reached crisis point.
"The pressure of being stuck at home and working under one roof put too much strain on the relationship. It seemed easier in the end just to go their separate ways.
"Lockdown was tough on them as a couple, like many people in the UK, and they’re just moving forward with their lives. Laura’s friends rallied round her to give her the support she needed and she’s been throwing herself into work."
Just last week, the TV presenter also posted a cryptic Instagram Story which showed a small bonfire with the caption: "Getting rid of 15 years of paperwork."
Laura also took a lengthy break from social media last summer, when the Sun claims is when she and Alex first split, and she later opened up about the benefits she felt from it.
She told The Sun at the time: "It felt like it made a big difference. I’ve been reading more, I’ve started listening to audiobooks and I’ve been using my time in different ways."
