Emmerdale’s Bernice star jokes she ‘might punch’ ‘talentless’ Gemma Collins

Emmerdale actress Samantha Giles has slammed TOWIE star Gemma Collins, branding her “talentless and revolting”.

Appearing at the MEN Pride of Manchester Awards on Tuesday (May 10), the star – who plays Bernice Blackstock in the ITV soap – joked she might “punch” the GC if she ever saw her in person.

Samantha was attending the awards to present the gong for Special Recognition, which went to James Anderson.

James founded the community interest company Depher, which provides free or heavily subsidised services to those needing plumbing and heating, free bathrooms and funeral costs, among others.

Presenting the award alongside Samantha was her Emmerdale co-star Chris Bisson (Jai Sharma) and The Chase quizzer Anne Hegerty.

But during an exclusive chat with Daily Star, Samantha’s attention turned to Gemma Collins and the sphere of reality TV.

She said: “All these reality stars, I haven’t got a clue who they are!

“That Gemma Collins, I think I’d punch her if I ever came across her. I don’t know – how can someone so talentless and revolting have made so much money?”

She added: “I wouldn’t mind if she’d give it away and did something good with it, but all she seems to do is put more sh** on her face and do her nails.”

The pair do have some things in common, however, as both Gemma and Samantha have admitted they’re “white witches”.

Samantha added to Daily Star: “Since I was a teenager I’ve always had an interest in spiritual things, then as you get older it sort of grows. I read all about Wicca and following nature and the natural cycles of the earth and everything.

“It just seems to make sense with life.”

Meanwhile, Gemma has explained on her BBC Sounds podcast: “I honestly think I was put on the Earth to be some sort of prophet.

“It is something I will talk about in time. I have endured pain and suffering in my life, things haven't always been easy, I have suffered. And now I can help people in their lives.”

She said she is a “white witch” and very “into nature”, adding: “The difference between white witches and dark witches is that a white witch is very spiritual, into nature and can make magic happen. That is me.”

Samantha also admitted Emmerdale writers “made a mistake” to kill off Val Pollard in the helicopter crash back in 2015.

She said: “I think Val was great, she was such a fabulous character. There was no-one like her on the programme, and I think it was a mistake to kill her really, in my opinion.

“I think she should still be in it. She was amazing – why did they kill her?”

The MEN Pride of Manchester Awards, in partnership with TSB, will premiere on YouTube at 7pm on Tuesday, May 17.
